Over the past years, we have supported young people through targeted adaptation and green jobs initiatives including our mini-adaptation program that supports our participant to translate their learning into real life impact.

As we continue to advance green jobs and community impact, we are also investing in understanding how best to serve our audiences. In the coming weeks, we are excited to launch a baseline study to map the specific training priorities, delivery formats, and skill areas that matter most to ensure that our programs remain responsive, inclusive, and impactful.

Our goal extends beyond training. We are intentionally bridging the gap between skills and employment. We are committed to helping individuals secure meaningful employment and build sustainable livelihoods.

We invite you to stay connected, engage with our work, and grow with us as we shape a more sustainable future for all.

Climate change continues to disrupt ecosystems, economies, and communities worldwide, with Africa remaining one of the most vulnerable regions. Now more than ever, it is crucial to educate and empower the next generation, particularly the youth, who are not only future leaders but also present-day changemakers.

The Centre for Green Growth’s Training for Youth on Climate Adaptation and Leadership has, over the years, engaged more than 120 young people across Africa. The program builds their capacity to lead, influence policy decisions, and implement locally driven climate solutions. It has also supported a mini-adaptation project, enabling participants to turn their ideas into action and demonstrate scalable models for resilience.

We call on global leaders, climate finance institutions, and development partners to invest in and amplify such initiatives. Supporting youth-led climate action is not only a moral imperative but also a strategic investment in a more resilient, sustainable, and equitable future for Africa and the word at large.

Last Saturday, we wrapped up our Training for Youth on Climate Adaptation and Leadership with a memorable closing ceremony! Participants gathered to celebrate their achievements and mark the end of an incredible journey.

Our Director, Stephanie Eyram Akrumah, delivered an address, emphasizing the importance of young people engaging in climate action and congratulating the participants on their dedication to building their knowledge and skills on Climate Adaptation.

Vanessa Shika Deyegbe represented her colleagues with a heartfelt speech, highlighting their journey and growth throughout the training.

The ceremony featured an award ceremony, where our top three winners for the Adaptation idea pitching were recognized for their outstanding project ideas:

🥉 Third Place: Vanessa Shika Deyegbe's initiative to collect and filter rainwater for her hostel facility at Accra Technical University to reduce excessive flooding and provide an alternative source of water for the students.

🥈 Second Place: Ernest Sampong Darko's "Duckweed Project," utilizing sand-winning pits to grow duckweeds as a means for carbon sequestration, water purification, and also serve as feed for poultry animals.

🏆 First Place: Matthew Azure Awini' s "Gongon Adaptation Initiative," winning the seed fund of USD 500 to support his project. The "Gongon" adaptation initiative aims to empower climate-vulnerable farming communities in the Wassa Amenfi West Municipality by leveraging existing 'Nnuboa' small farmer support groups. Through these groups, farmers will receive training on climate adaptation, enhancing their adaptive capacity and equipping them with strategies to adapt to its impacts.

We're grateful to our trainers Patience Agyekum and Sarfoh Danquah, and funder, Ban Ki-moon Centre for Global Citizens, for making this training a success!

Congratulations to our winners and participants! Your dedication to climate adaptation is truly inspiring. Keep shining!

It's been an incredible week, and we've reached the climax of our week-long intensive training program for youth on Climate Adaptation and Leadership, where we've equipped the 3rd cohort of brilliant young minds with the knowledge, skills, and expertise necessary to design, develop, and implement effective adaptation advocacy initiatives and engage in impactful climate action!

Throughout the program, our participants have undergone rigorous and interactive training sessions, all carefully designed to foster their creativity, innovation, and leadership potential.

During the training, we witnessed a remarkable display of innovative ideas as our participants took turns pitching their adaptation projects, each one showcasing exceptional creativity, originality, and potential for real-world impact!

Our judges had the challenging task of evaluating each pitch, assessing their feasibility, scalability, and potential for promoting climate resilience.

We're beyond proud of each and every one of our participants, who've demonstrated unwavering dedication, passion, and commitment to driving climate action and promoting sustainable development.

Who walks home with the seed funding to take their initiative to the next level? Stay tuned for updates from our closing ceremony!
