OFFICIAL UPDATE: SUPPLEMENTARY EXAMINATIONS SUSPENDED FOR 2025/2026 & 2026/2027 ACADEMIC YEARS – KNUST INTRODUCES SPECIAL DISPENSATION

In a move to fully revert to the old academic calendar, Supplementary Examinations will NOT be held for the 2025/2026 and 2026/2027 Academic Years.

To support students with trails, the Board has approved a Special Dispensation allowing affected students to add up to two (2) trailing courses to their regular semester workload. These courses can then be written at the end of the relevant semester, helping students progress to the next level.

We urge all students to take note of this development and plan their academics accordingly. Cooperation from all stakeholders is requested to ensure a smooth transition.

Stay tuned for further updates from your association.

On Friday, 13th February 2026, the South Sudanese Students’ Association at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) proudly hosted a vibrant and memorable welcoming party for their freshmen β€” the Class of 2029. The event marked the beginning of an exciting academic journey for the new students and served as a warm introduction to both the university community and the South Sudanese family on campus.

The ceremony was filled with joy, unity, and cultural pride. From inspiring speeches and words of encouragement to music, dance, and social interactions, the atmosphere reflected the strong bond that exists among South Sudanese students at KNUST. The freshmen were formally welcomed and assured that they now belong to a supportive community that will stand by them throughout their years of study.

To the Class of 2029, congratulations on earning your place at this prestigious institution. You have joined not only one of Africa’s leading universities but also a vibrant association that values excellence, unity, leadership, and cultural identity. May your time at KNUST be marked by academic success, personal growth, meaningful friendships, and impactful achievements.

The association also extends its deepest appreciation to the continuing students whose presence, contributions, and enthusiasm made the event truly successful. Your commitment to welcoming your junior brothers and sisters demonstrates the spirit of togetherness and responsibility that defines this community. By showing up in large numbers, offering support, and creating a lively atmosphere, you ensured that the freshmen’s first major social experience on campus was unforgettable.

Special thanks go to the organizers, volunteers, and everyone who contributed in diverse ways β€” financially, logistically, and morally β€” to make the program a success. Your dedication and teamwork turned the occasion into a beautiful celebration of unity and progress.

As the new academic chapter begins, may the Class of 2029 feel encouraged, empowered, and motivated to pursue excellence while upholding the values of the association and representing South Sudan with pride.

Once again, welcome to KNUST, welcome to the family, and welcome to a future full of possibilities.

Congratulations to the Class of 2029 β€” your journey starts now. πŸŽ‰

Even far from home, community remains our strongest anchor.

Being far from home does not diminish our sense of responsibility to one another. The South Sudanese students at KNUST were delighted to welcome fellow South Sudanese students from Ashesi University during their visitβ€”a quiet yet powerful reminder that community travels with us. Moments like these create a true sense of home away from home.

Beyond borders and institutions, we continue to show up for one another by sharing encouragement, understanding, and a sense of belonging. These interactions reflect the strength of our unity, care, shared identity, and connections that endure no matter where we are.

Garang Wachbaar graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). During his four-year academic journey, he demonstrated strong dedication to his studies while also developing valuable skills beyond the classroom.

One of his most remarkable achievements during these four years is his growth in content creation. Driven by a deep passion for culture, Garang has promoted numerous cultural songs on YouTube. This outstanding contribution has not gone unnoticed; several musicians have acknowledged and appreciated his work through their songs.

Garang stands out as a true example of someone who embraced university Ilife by discovering himself, identifying his skill set, and applying it to make an impact on the world around him. His journey is truly inspirational, and both we and the incoming generation will continue to learn from his story.

He has now returned to South Sudan, fully equipped with digital tools and ready to offer his services. Let us support him through hiring him for events, referrals, recommendations, and by sharing his story with wider audiences.

Congratulations on this milestone. We wish you all the best in your new venture.
