The Eastern Regional branch of the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association honoured six distinguished members during the 2026 Regional Opening of the Nurses and Midwives Week Celebration held at Asamankese.

The awardees, representing various districts across the region, were recognized for their exceptional performances during the 2026 Best Nurse/Midwife Awards and Most Promising Nurse/Midwife Awards interviews.

Miss Doris Agbedzinu from the New Juaben North Municipal was crowned the Overall Best Nurse/Midwife for 2026. She received a citation for her outstanding innovations and contributions in putting up the Fofie CHPS Compound. She will represent the Eastern Region at the National GRNMA Awards scheduled to be held at Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City in December.

The 1st Runner-Up position went to Miss Mary Mensah of the New Juaben South Municipal, who was honoured with a citation for her outstanding innovations in healthcare delivery.

Miss Bernice Boateng from Birim Central was adjudged the 2nd Runner-Up and was also presented with a citation for her professionalism and unwavering dedication to community service within her district.

In the Most Promising Nurse/Midwife category, Mr. Daniel Ofori Afari of Kwahu Government Hospital was adjudged the Overall Most Promising Nurse/Midwife for 2026. He received a citation and a cash prize of 100 USD in recognition of his dedication and commitment to quality healthcare delivery.

Miss Florence Asravor from the Lower West Akim District emerged as the 1st Runner-Up in the Most Promising Nurse/Midwife category and was honoured with a citation for her remarkable innovations in healthcaredelivery.

The 2nd Runner-Up award went to Miss Francisca Frimpomaa of the Akyemansa District, who was recognized with a citation for her outstanding commitment in community service.

All participants for the 2026 Best Nurse/Midwife and Most Promising Nurse/Midwife Interview were also honoured with a certificate.

Eastern Regional branch of the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association commemorated the International Nurses and Midwives Day at Asamankese under the theme: “Our Nurses, Our Future: Empowered Nurses Save Lives.”

The Regional opening ceremony brought together Nurses and Midwives from across the Eastern Region to celebrate the dedication, resilience, and invaluable contributions of healthcare professionals to the health sector.
The event was graced by several distinguished guests, including the Paramount Chief of Asamankese Traditional Area, the District Chief Executive, the Member of Parliament for the area, the Regional Chief Nursing Officer, Heads of Health Facilities across the region, as well as officers from the Immigration Service, Police Service, and Fire Service.
The celebration highlighted the critical role empowered nurses and midwives play in saving lives, strengthening healthcare delivery, and promoting quality patient care within communities and health facilities across the region.
