The National Service Personnel Association (NASPA) Sene East District, on Thursday, July 10, 2025, successfully held its much-anticipated General Meeting and Entrepreneurship Skills Training Seminar at the Sene East Assembly Hall. The event, powered by the NASPA Media and Publicity Team, was organized to not only update members on the progress of the association but also equip service personnel with essential entrepreneurial skills.
The seminar drew an impressive attendance of National Service personnel across the district and was marked by inspiring discussions, impactful presentations, and forward-looking initiatives.
*President's Address and Milestone Initiatives*
In his opening remarks, the NASPA President for Sene East District, H.E. Solomon Ocansey Akli, who assumed office just two months ago, delivered a powerful address outlining the strategic measures his administration has already put in place to support personnel.
1. Permanent Accommodation for Future Personnel
The President revealed that he has initiated conversations with key stakeholders to secure at least two permanent rooms for future National Service personnel posted to the district. This initiative seeks to alleviate the long-standing accommodation challenges faced by incoming personnel.
2. Post-Service Employment Support
In a significant step toward reducing unemployment, Mr. Akli disclosed his engagement with the District Chief Executive (DCE) to retain hardworking service personnel who express interest in continuing to serve in the district after their national service. This initiative will help bolster the district’s human resource capacity while offering career continuity for dedicated personnel.
3. Support for Entrepreneurial Personnel
The NASPA President also reported fruitful discussions with the District Assembly to extend support to service personnel who are small-scale entrepreneurs, thereby creating an enabling environment for youth-led businesses to thrive within the district.
*DCE's Address and Government Support*
The seminar was graced by the Special Guest of Honor, Hon. O.F.K. Nkrumah, District Chief Executive of Sene East. In his keynote address, he provided a detailed exposition on the fundamentals of starting and sustaining small-scale enterprises, emphasizing the relevance of entrepreneurship in today’s economic climate. He encouraged the participants to take advantage of the numerous opportunities available through government initiatives and private partnerships.
In a groundbreaking announcement, the DCE highlighted the outcomes of recent engagements with the NASPA leadership, stating:
‼️Five (5) business expansion slots under the government’s Adwumawura Policy have been allocated to service personnel who already own and operate small businesses.
‼️Two (2) additional slots are reserved for new service personnel who are aspiring to venture into entrepreneurship.
‼️Service personnel who wish to remain and serve in the district after their national service will be offered employment opportunities, provided they commit to staying in the district permanently.
*A Legacy in the Making*
Despite having just three months left in office, H.E. Solomon Ocansey Akli has distinguished himself as a transformational leader. His leadership has introduced legacy projects and initiatives that will serve as a foundation for future administrations. While he hinted at other strategic plans still in progress, he assured members that further details would be shared once those initiatives are fully materialized.
The event ended with a renewed sense of purpose among personnel and a deep appreciation for the association’s commitment to their welfare and development.
