🇬🇭 Constitutional Reform: Shaping the Future of Ghana’s Democracy

On 28 September 2026, a capacity-building session on constitutional reform was held at SkyPlus Hotel, Ho, bringing together Assembly Members to discuss proposed changes to Ghana’s constitutional framework and what they could mean for governance and national development.

The session was organized by LoveAid Foundation in partnership with CDD-Ghana and the Citizen Platform for Constitutional Reform (CPCR).

The discussions covered a range of important issues, including:

🔹 4-year vs. 5-year presidential terms and the need for long-term national development planning
🔹 Strengthening democratic governance and accountability
🔹 Proposed constitutional reforms and their implications for Ghana’s future
🔹 The importance of citizen participation in shaping constitutional development

The session provided a valuable platform for dialogue, reflection, and greater understanding of Ghana’s constitutional reform process.

EMPOWERING YOUNG PEOPLE FOR HEALTHY CHOICES, POSITIVE RELATIONSHIPS & SAFER COMMUNITIES

Young people are not only beneficiaries of health education—they can also be powerful voices in educating and supporting their peers.

In response to growing concerns around teenage pregnancy, HIV/AIDS, sexually transmitted infections (STIs), substance abuse, and gender-based violence (GBV), young people came together for a peer-led reproductive health education session focused on equipping their peers with the knowledge and confidence to make informed and healthier choices.

The session was facilitated by young people who shared practical knowledge and created an open space for learning, questions, and meaningful conversations:

🔹 Dion Kukua Fynn — Puberty, Identity & Youth Leadership
Explored the physical and emotional changes during puberty, understanding identity, and the role young people can play as leaders in their communities.

🔹 Priscilla Dzangmah — S*xual & Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), Menstrual Health & Pregnancy
Discussed SRHR, menstrual health and management, pregnancy, and the importance of making informed decisions about one's body and health.

🔹 Jude Ahiagble — S*xual Health, STIs & Substance Abuse
Focused on sexual health, prevention of STIs, HIV/AIDS awareness, and the risks associated with substance abuse.

🔹 Arnold Adekplorvi — Gender, Gender-Transformative Approaches & GBV
Explored gender, harmful gender norms, gender-transformative approaches, and the prevention of gender-based violence.

🔹 Zomayi Deladem David — GBV: Impact, Reporting & Support
Highlighted the effects of GBV and provided information on reporting mechanisms, available support, and the importance of speaking up and seeking help.

Through peer-to-peer education, young people are gaining the knowledge, confidence, and voice to influence positive change within their communities.

Because when young people are informed, empowered, and supported, they can contribute to healthier relationships, safer choices, and safer communities.

Capacity Building Session on Constitutional Reform

On 23rd September 2026, LoveAid Foundation hosted a capacity-building session on Constitutional Reform at the LoveAid Foundation Office. The session was an initiative of the Citizens’ Platform on Constitutional Reform (CPCR) and was initiated by LoveAid Foundation to engage young people in discussions on constitutional matters and civic participation.

The session sought to enhance participants’ understanding of the 1992 Constitution of Ghana, the constitutional reform process, and the importance of citizen participation in strengthening democratic governance.

Through presentations and interactive discussions, participants examined key constitutional issues, shared their perspectives, asked questions, and gained a deeper understanding of the role of young people in national development and democratic processes.

The engagement provided an important platform for young people to become more informed about their constitutional rights, responsibilities, and opportunities for civic participation.

LoveAid Foundation remains committed to creating platforms that equip young people with the knowledge and confidence to participate meaningfully in issues that affect their communities and the nation.
