The Majority Caucus was led by the Majority Leader, Keziah Agyare, whilst the Minority Caucus was led by the Minority Leader, Forgive Kormedza. Parliamentary order and protocol were maintained by the Marshal of Parliament, Senam Buady.
Proceedings commenced with prayers, followed by Formal Communication by the Speaker, during which distinguished dignitaries were acknowledged. The House subsequently considered and adopted the Votes and Proceedings as well as the Official Reports.
During the Questions session, the Majority Chief Whip posed a question to the Head Girl, Deborah Osabra, regarding the closure of washroom facilities on campus. The Head Girl responded by outlining the reasons for the decision, citing misuse, poor maintenance, and the need for repairs, while indicating that reopening would depend on improved discipline among students. A supplementary question was asked by the same Member, to which the Head Girl provided further clarification.
Under Statements, the Honourable Majority Leader presented a statement on the shortage of desks and chairs in classrooms. The statement highlighted the adverse effects on student comfort, academic performance, and learning conditions.
The statement attracted contributions from both sides of the House. A Member from the Minority Caucus rose to support the statement and emphasised the urgency of addressing the issue. A Member from the Majority Caucus acknowledged the concern while outlining ongoing government efforts to improve educational infrastructure. Another Member from the Minority Caucus strongly opposed the Majority’s position, stressing that the situation required immediate intervention.
Following deliberations, the Deputy Majority Leader moved that the statement be referred to a relevant committee, which was supported by the Minority Leader. The House accordingly referred the matter to the Committee on Education for consideration and report within two weeks.
