The videos and images from across our beloved Ghana are devastating.
Homes lost. Businesses hurt. Parents doing everything to keep children safe.

Behind every flooded street is a family struggling, a business owner counting losses, and communities in distress.

But as Ghanaians, we are always strongest 💪🏾 when we stand together.

Please check on neighbours, reach out to friends in affected areas, and support however you can — food, clothes, shelter, or even a call.

We urge NADMO Ghana, rescue teams, all other responsible government institutions, businesses, faith groups, NGOs and community leaders to keep scaling up relief.

At *ComCA Ghana*, we stand in solidarity with every family and individual impacted.

Beyond immediate help, we must also confront drainage, urban planning, and environmental care, so this cycle doesn’t repeat.

May God protect every family and comfort those in pain.

*ComCA Ghana Issues ‘Red Card to Child Labour’ in Western North Region*

_ComCA Ghana, through the ILO’s ACCEL Africa Project, marked World Day Against Child Labour in the Juaboso & Bia East Districts of the Western North Region._

*🚨 THEME: “Red Card to Child Labour; Fair Play for Children, Decent Work for Adults” 🚨*

On Friday, 12 June 2026, we moved the fight from Talk to Action:

*‘Red Card’ Football Gala*
Basic schools faced off on the pitch, where every goal was a goal _for_ children and _against_ child labour. Pupils marched with placards declaring: _“Put Children in School, Not on Farms and Mining Sites.”_
Because children belong in classrooms and on the pitch — not in cocoa farms or mining pits.

*Durbar & Stakeholder Commitments*
Chiefs, NCCE, Department of Social Welfare, GES, cocoa and mining cooperatives, assembly members, and other key dignitaries convened to pledge collective action towards the elimination of Child Labour in the Mining and Cocoa Supply Chains.

Delivering the keynote, *Mr. Bismarck Quartey, National Coordinator for the ILO ACCEL Africa Project in Ghana*, underscored the urgency:

_“Today we show a red card to child labour. But the real match is not played here at the durbar. It is played daily in our homes, on our farms, and at mining sites. Fair play for children means full access to education. Decent work for adults means no family should depend on a child’s labour to survive. When chiefs lead, when institutions enforce, and when communities choose classrooms over Mining Sites for CHILDREN— that’s how we win.”_

He called for sustained, multi-sectoral action beyond symbolic events: _“A red card is a sanction, not a slogan. It demands that we stop child labour at its roots — poverty, weak enforcement, and harmful norms — and replace it with opportunity.”_

The day culminated with every participant — from pupils to traditional leaders — raising red cards high, declaring in one voice:
*“RED CARD TO CHILD LABOUR! From CUTLASSES and Mining Sites TO Classrooms!”* ✊
*Standing Together for Children*
ComCA Ghana, alongside ILO, NCCE, Social Welfare, GES, traditional authorities, and all partners, remains resolute in championing decisive action toward child labour-free communities in Ghana. The match doesn’t end with a whistle. It ends when every child’s place is in school, and every adult’s work is safe, dignified, and fair.

*ComCA Ghana Empowers Village Savings and Loans Associations (VSLA) in Western North Region*

_Building Dignity, Protection, and Community Power through Savings_

Financial independence starts with a single cedi. In ongoing training with New Village Savings and Loans Associations in the Bia East and Juaboso Districts of the Western North Region, ComCA Ghana is equipping women and men with more than just savings skills.
We are building confidence, dignity, and collective power.

Through the *ILO's ACCEL Africa Project *ComCA Ghana facilitators guided groups to discover 3 truths for themselves:
1. *Dignity* - When we save together, we stop depending on loans that is not easily accessible to us. We become our own bank.
2. *Protection* - As part of ACCEL Africa’s fight to end child labour, ComCA Ghana affirms: when mothers save, children stay in school. Savings protect children from hardzadious work and prioritise education first.
3. *Transformation* - Groups within communities, one District at a time. Together, VSLA members are growing businesses, supporting families, and developing Western North and Ghana at large.

The activity ended with all members dropping an “imaginary cedi” into the VSLA box while declaring: _“My cedi. My power. Our future.”_

ComCA Ghana believes a woman with savings has a voice. A group with savings has a future.
We remain committed to working with communities, traditional leaders, and partners to ensure every cedi saved becomes a step toward freedom and development.

*ComCA Ghana Marks World Menstrual Hygiene Day with Bia East District Assembly*

_Raising Awareness, Restoring Dignity in Bia East_

Menstruation is a natural process that every girl and woman deserves to experience with dignity, safety, and reliable care.

In commemoration of World Menstrual Hygiene Day, ComCA Ghana proudly partnered with the Gender Desk of the Bia East District Assembly to raise awareness and support young women and girls in managing their menstrual cycles with confidence and respect.

As part of the program, ComCA Ghana donated packs of sanitary pads and refreshments to participants. The gesture reinforced a simple but powerful message: maintaining good menstrual hygiene is not a luxury — it is a basic expression of human dignity and a right.

By standing together, we affirm that menstrual hygiene is more than a health issue. It is about empowerment, inclusion, education, and breaking the stigma that still surrounds periods. When girls have access to products, information, and support; they stay in school, participate fully, and lead without barriers.

ComCA Ghana remains committed to working with communities, leaders, and partners to ensure no girl is left behind because of her period.

ComCA Ghana, a youth-led organization, was honored to serve as a key stakeholder in the Western North Regional consultations convened by the Youth Employment Authority.
Working with partners, we contributed to the National Action Plan on Youth, Peace, and Security, advancing a vision of young people as active peacebuilders instead of casualties of conflict.
We see this milestone as a foundation for sustainable peace, security, and national Development.
