Voices of Resilience 🌿
It's Friday, and today we're shining the spotlight on Leticia Charwatey, one of the active women champions and key stakeholders of the Improved Resilience of Coastal Communities in Ghana Project, funded by the Adaptation Fund.

During a recent Mangrove Restoration and Management Capacity Building Training, Leticia from Workumagbe, a beneficiary community in Ada, shared valuable lessons and insights she gained on the importance of protecting mangrove ecosystems and strengthening community resilience against climate change.

Through our partnership with Habitat for Humanity, UN-HABITAT, the University of Twente, and ActionAid Ghana, we are empowering communities with the knowledge and skills needed to restore vital ecosystems, safeguard livelihoods, and build a more resilient future for coastal Ghana.

International Day of Play 2026
Theme: Protect Play, Protect Childhood

Today, ActionAid Ghana joins the world in celebrating the International Day of Play and reaffirming that play is a fundamental right of every child.

Play is essential for learning, creativity, well-being, and healthy development. Yet, many children, especially girls and those living in poverty, continue to face barriers that deny them a safe and fulfilling childhood.

As an organisation committed to advancing children's rights and social justice, we call for greater investment in safe, inclusive spaces where all children can learn, play, and thrive free from violence, discrimination, and exploitation.

Protecting play means protecting childhood. Together, let us create a Ghana where every child has the opportunity to reach their full potential.

As part of ActionAid Ghana's SP1: Green Economy and Resilient Livelihoods, we have consistently championed the need for climate-resilient agriculture, increased investment in Ghana's agricultural sector, and the adoption of women-friendly policies that empower smallholder farmers and strengthen food systems.

Today's edition of Ghana Broadcasting Corporation Women's Voice focuses on "Women Farmers Feed Ghana: Advancing Green Economy and Resilient Livelihoods."

Women farmers are the backbone of Ghana's food security, producing a significant proportion of the food consumed across the country. Despite their critical contribution, many continue to face barriers in accessing land, agricultural financing, markets, extension services, and climate-resilient farming technologies.

This discussion will spotlight the invaluable role of women farmers, the challenges they face, and the policy and investment actions required to promote sustainable agriculture, enhance food security, build climate resilience, and create dignified livelihoods for women and rural communities.

ARCCLG Project Strengthens Community Capacity to Protect Children

The Advancing Rights and Combatting Child Labour in Cocoa Value Chains (ARCCLG) Project has taken an important step towards protecting children in its operational communities by strengthening the capacity of Community Based Anti-Violence Teams (COMBATs).

A total of 80 COMBAT members, drawn from 16 project communities across the Bono and Ahafo regions, were trained to serve as community watchdogs on child rights and child protection issues. Each community selected five members representing different groups, including traditional leaders, Assembly Members or Unit Committee Members, women, youth, and school representatives. Bringing together people from different backgrounds was intended to ensure that child protection becomes a shared responsibility within the community.

It’s Friday, and we are excited to shine the spotlight on the Paramount Chief of the Bono Region, Nana Kwaku Peprah II, who shared powerful insights with us during the launch of the ARCCLG Project funded by the The Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply and PostCode Lottery in Goaso

We celebrate him as an ambassador of positive masculinity and transformative leadership. In his remarks, Nana Kwaku Peprah II highlighted the realities of child labour and reflected on some long-standing practices that were once considered normal, but continue to put children at risk and deny them their rights and dignity.
