Under the Improved Resilience of Coastal Communities in Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire (IRCC) project funded by the Adaptation Fund , AAG and partners; UN-HABITAT and Habitat for Humanity recognise the urgent need to strengthen climate awareness and environmental education within vulnerable coastal communities facing coastal erosion, flooding, rising sea levels, mangrove degradation, and livelihood losses.
Through strategic community sensitisation, stakeholder engagement, advocacy, and climate education initiatives, the project is empowering communities to build resilience and promote sustainable environmental practices. As part of this effort, the project is engaging coastal communities one-by-one through targeted sensitisation activities to ensure inclusive participation, community ownership, and tailored responses to local climate challenges.
By amplifying the voices of women, youth, fisherfolk, and other vulnerable groups, while fostering collaboration among local authorities, civil society, traditional leaders, and the media, the IRCC project is contributing to stronger, informed, and climate-resilient coastal communities in Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire.
