Under the Improved Resilience of Coastal Communities in Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire (IRCC) project funded by the Adaptation Fund , AAG and partners; UN-HABITAT and Habitat for Humanity recognise the urgent need to strengthen climate awareness and environmental education within vulnerable coastal communities facing coastal erosion, flooding, rising sea levels, mangrove degradation, and livelihood losses.

Through strategic community sensitisation, stakeholder engagement, advocacy, and climate education initiatives, the project is empowering communities to build resilience and promote sustainable environmental practices. As part of this effort, the project is engaging coastal communities one-by-one through targeted sensitisation activities to ensure inclusive participation, community ownership, and tailored responses to local climate challenges.

By amplifying the voices of women, youth, fisherfolk, and other vulnerable groups, while fostering collaboration among local authorities, civil society, traditional leaders, and the media, the IRCC project is contributing to stronger, informed, and climate-resilient coastal communities in Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire.

: Mangroves are not just trees—they are guardians of life, standing resilient where land meets sea.

At ActionAid Ghana, we recognise the critical role mangroves play in protecting coastal communities, preserving biodiversity, supporting livelihoods, and strengthening resilience against climate change.

Through community-led restoration efforts under the Improved Resilience of Coastal Communities (IRCC) Project, we are working with local volunteers and partners to restore degraded ecosystems and build a safer, more sustainable future for vulnerable coastal populations.

Happy Mother’s Day
Today, we celebrate the strength, resilience, love, and leadership of mothers and mother figures across Ghana and beyond.

At ActionAid Ghana, we honour women who continue to nurture families, support communities, defend rights, and drive change even in the face of social and economic challenges. From the farms and markets to classrooms, boardrooms, and community spaces, mothers remain at the heart of building a just, inclusive, and sustainable society.

We salute every mother, caregiver, and woman whose sacrifices and determination inspire hope for future generations. Your voice, labour, and leadership matter.

Happy Mother’s Day to all amazing mothers.

Happy International Workers' Day

ActionAid Ghana stands in solidarity with workers across the country as we mark May Day under the theme: “Pivoting to Growth, Jobs and Sustainable Livelihoods Beyond Macroeconomic Stability.”

We commend ongoing efforts to advance employment and labour reforms, and we urge a continued focus on creating decent, safe, and inclusive work opportunities—especially for women, young people, and informal workers.

While important progress has been made, we call on government to further strengthen labour protections, including decisive action to address workplace violence in line with ILO Convention 190. This remains critical to ensuring dignity and safety for all workers.

We look forward to sustained collaboration to ensure that economic growth translates into meaningful and dignified livelihoods for all Ghanaians.

Happy Workers’ Day to all partners and stakeholders.
