Fonio Alliance designs climate-resilient food systems in Northern Ghana using indigenous crops like fonio—linking livelihoods, land restoration, and local markets through community-led, learning-driven approaches. We collaborate with farmers, local institutions, and partners to strengthen livelihoods, restore degraded landscapes, and support climate-resilient agriculture. Indigenous crops such as
fonio—an ancient, drought-tolerant grain—serve as an entry point for this work, helping link food production, land stewardship, and local markets. Our approach focuses on learning, collaboration, and long-term systems design rather than short-term delivery. By grounding solutions in community knowledge and agroecological practice, Fonio Alliance contributes to food systems that are inclusive, adaptive, and built to endure.
