Still in the Spirit of Love, Gratitude, and Impact! 💚

Today, we extend our heartfelt appreciation to the 2023/2024 Executives of the University of Cape Coast Students’ Representative Council (UCC-SRC), led by President Vincent Kojo Siabi (S.K).

In 2024, when we presented our proposal to the SRC Executives, it was warmly received and perfectly aligned with their vision for the university community. Together, we refined the model to suit campus needs. Though the approval process took longer than expected, S.K’s commitment was remarkable. He remained dedicated to the project’s success, actively engaging with our partners and sharing valuable contributions that shaped the project’s direction, even as his tenure drew to a close.

At Nature Steward, we celebrate visionary leadership, environmental stewardship, and youth-driven environmental sustainability efforts.

We appreciate you, Vincent Kojo Siabi, Elizabeth Dimah, Elijah Lamambo, and Emmanuel Asante-Gyimah, for your resilience, integrity, and passion for positive change. Keep shining and leading with purpose!

It’s the month of Love, and we’re sharing ours with Germany! 💚

This February, we’re celebrating love, gratitude, and impact! A heartfelt thank you to the good people of Germany for supporting our mission through the AGI Sustainability Cluster Small Grant, which funded three of our flagship projects- Clean Beaches, Engage To Revive, and Young Environmental Stewards (YES)- in partnership with NatureCare Reycling.

🌊 Clean Beaches
Held at Barrier Beach (Bakaano) Cape Coast, this initiative highlighted the importance of clean coastlines for biodiversity protection, pollution reduction, and tourism enhancement. With the support of the Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly (Waste Management Department), Bakaano Electoral Area, ZoomLion Ghana Ltd, and students from the Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences-UCC, we proved that collaboration is key to solving environmental challenges. Our goal is to make Cape Coast’s beaches among the cleanest in Ghana!

🌱 Young Environmental Stewards (YES)
This project empowered young minds from different schools in Cape Coast including Amamoma Presbyterian Basic School, Adventist Preparatory Basic & JHS, University JHS (UCC), Wesley Girls’ SHS, and St. Augustine’s College. Students learned about waste segregation and recycling. And together, we redirected over 2 tonnes of waste in 18 months, with 80% successfully pre-processed and sent to recyclers in Accra. With more support, we can scale this impact even further!

♻️ Engage To Revive
Targeting tertiary students, this initiative inspires youth to tackle environmental issues through entrepreneurship. At the University of Cape Coast, with the support of the Centre for Coastal Management (CCM-ACECoR), we’ve already recovered 20 kg of recyclable plastics from just one floor of the SRC Hall, and we’re expanding! The vision is to sensitize students to creatively design and create green jobs (especially after school) while keeping our environment clean.

We extend our deepest appreciation to Sequa (implementers) and the project executors Arqum and AGI Association of Ghana Industries. for making this possible. We are grateful to the facilitators from Germany- Philipp Poferl, Gina Ditzen, Felix Nagl, Jacqueline Gappa, and Francis Rohr-Kumah- for their excellent delivery. Special thanks to Mary Turkson for her outstanding coordination.

At Nature Steward, we believe in the power of collaboration to protect our planet. As we say, “Envinvigorate with us”. Join our innovation to invigorate the environment. Because, without a sustainable environment, our survival is not guaranteed.

🌍 We’re open to partnerships in waste management, food and water security, ecosystem protection, and human empowerment.
Let’s build a cleaner, greener future together. 💪🏾🌿

January was Zero Waste Month and we took action!

Nature Steward, with support from the Centre for Coastal Management - University of Cape Coast (CCM-ACECoR), is delighted to announce a new collaboration with the University of Cape Coast (UCC) SRC Hall.

Nature Steward and CCM, together with the SRC Hall Management and the 2025/2026 JCRC Executives, have launched a Plastic Waste Collection Project among UCC students, starting right at the SRC Hall!

This initiative aims to emphasize the importance of waste segregation at source as a key step toward effective recycling, environmental sustainability, and climate action. By managing waste responsibly, we reduce pollution, conserve resources, and contribute to a cleaner, healthier planet.

We extend our heartfelt appreciation to Prof. Denis W. Aheto (Acting Vice-Chancellor), Assoc. Prof. Precious Mattah (Acting Director, CCM), and Dr. Richmond Afoakwah (Hall Master, SRC Hall) for their continuous support. We are grateful to Ms. Ivy Akuoko from CCM for her dedication, and to Collins Kwablah Anthony (JCRC President) and his committed team for championing this cause.

Together, we are proving that small actions (like sorting waste) can drive big change for people and the planet.

This is how we begin the year - with purpose and impact!
