Tomorrow, the HerClimate Fellowship 2026 welcomes two exceptional climate leaders who are shaping the future of climate finance, sustainable development, and inclusive climate action.

We are honoured to spotlight Bridgette Setshedi, Manager: Climate Mitigation at the Presidential Climate Commission (South Africa), and Asna Towfiq, Senior Manager for Climate Finance at Plan International Canada.

Bridgette brings over a decade of experience in climate and energy policy, regulation, and sustainability, working across sectors including energy, mining, transport, land development, and spatial planning. Through her work at the Presidential Climate Commission, she helps shape evidence-based pathways for a just, inclusive, and low-carbon transition while championing innovation, sustainable energy, and opportunities for women and young people.

Asna Towfiq is a global sustainability and climate finance leader with over 15 years of experience driving social impact across Asia, Africa, and North America. From managing a US$200 million climate investment portfolio at the World Bank to leading climate finance initiatives at Plan International Canada, her work bridges policy, finance, and implementation to advance climate resilience, gender equity, and inclusive development for the communities most affected by climate change.

Together, they will equip our fellows with practical insights into Climate Finance and Project Design—exploring how innovative financing, strategic partnerships, and well-designed projects can transform climate ambition into measurable impact.

Climate leadership is not only about developing solutions, it is also about ensuring knowledge is communicated in ways that inspire learning, inclusion, and action.

We are delighted to spotlight Lois Akosua Blay, educator, researcher, and one of the speakers for the HerClimate Fellowship 2026.

Currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Leadership, Culture and Curriculum at Miami University, Ohio, Lois brings a unique blend of expertise in education, research communication, and public engagement. Her work explores how education and communication can make complex social and environmental issues more accessible, empowering people to engage meaningfully with the challenges shaping our world.

Before beginning her doctoral studies, Lois served as a Research and Communications Assistant at the Africa Centre of Excellence in Coastal Resilience (ACECoR), where she translated research on coastal resilience and environmental sustainability into engaging content for diverse audiences through storytelling, multimedia, and strategic communication.

With research interests spanning critical pedagogy, instructional technology, cultural studies, and second-language acquisition, Lois is passionate about creating inclusive learning spaces that equip people with the knowledge and confidence to drive positive change.

Climate leadership is strengthened by people who transform research into action and ensure that the voices of young people shape climate policy and decision-making.

We are excited to spotlight Emmanuella Manchaya Kalari, Ghanaian climate change professional, researcher, policy advocate, and one of the speakers for the HerClimate Fellowship 2026.

Emmanuella's work spans climate governance, adaptation finance, climate and health, youth leadership, and community resilience across Africa. Through her leadership roles with the Youth Climate Council Ghana, Youth Bridge Foundation, and the Global Center on Adaptation's Youth Adaptation Network, she contributes to advancing inclusive climate policies and strengthening youth participation in adaptation efforts.

She also serves on the AU ECOSOCC Climate Change Thematic Working Group, where she supports evidence-based policy recommendations that inform continental climate governance and global climate negotiations.

A passionate advocate for African women and youth, Emmanuella is committed to building the next generation of climate leaders through research, policy engagement, and meaningful action.

Through Climate Gist, Loveth is redefining how people engage with climate issues by using storytelling, conversations, and digital media to bridge the gap between climate science, policy, and the public. Her work creates spaces where people can learn, connect, and recognise their role in building a more sustainable future.

A graduate of Political Science from the University of Lagos, Loveth has contributed to climate discourse through research, media, and public engagement. She is also the author of a published research article exploring the role of non-governmental organizations in advancing green energy innovations and sustainable practices in Lagos State, Nigeria.

Her work reflects the power of communication in driving climate action, reminding us that informed communities are better equipped to participate in creating sustainable solutions.
