DJ Carlos, a contemporary peace builder, has made significant contributions to the stability and peace of the Dagbong Kingdom. Peace is not just the absence of hostilities, but a never-ending journey society upholds to safeguard the many gains achieved.
The Dagbong narrative is not an exception, as many armed conflicts have remained periodically. The landmark reconciliations of the ancient Kingdom of Dagbong, that saw the investiture of a new overlord, Ndan Yaa Naa Yakubu Andani II, were milestone achievements.
However, one of the surest ways of consolidating these gains can be achieved through strategic initiatives like the Savelugu vs. Kunbungu peace match, which brought together traditional leadership, politicians, youth, and children from Dagbong and beyond. The durability of any subsequent peace depends on two key factors: the viciousness of the earlier war and the magnanimity or wisdom of victors. Dagbong will get stronger and mightier when everyone is made to be part of the defining process of sustainable peace building.
The joint collaborations to build a befitting Gbewah palace are never short of brilliance and intelligence, where everyone is given an opportunity to contribute and preserve the collective legacies of the Dagombas.
“Looking ahead, more conflicts loom with new geopolitical tensions and novel insecurities from climate change, pandemics, resource competition, and dysfunctional globalization and population growth”. In this day and age, any society thriving on divisions and not seeing the desperate need to regroup its people towards the collective progress of its vulnerable population is doing a huge disservice to its future and heritage.
Congratulations to Carlos Entertainment and the organizers of this important event. Dagbong is certainly proud of them; their generations will never lack that which they have contributed to building for humanity.
