KOKOFU M/A JHS HOSTS JOINT ICT TRAINING FOR STUDENTS AND PARENTS

Students and parents of Kokofu M/A JHS participated in a joint ICT practical training session at the Kokofu Community ICT Center. The event aimed to foster digital literacy and encourage collaboration between students and their parents in learning essential computer skills.

Participants were guided through basic tasks such as word processing, internet usage, and creating email accounts. The initiative sought to empower families by equipping them with the digital skills necessary for education and everyday activities.

Both students and parents expressed appreciation for the training, highlighting its impact on improving ICT knowledge and strengthening family bonds through shared learning experiences.

STUDENTS OF BEKWAI EXPERIMENTAL JHS ENGAGE IN ICT PRACTICALS AT BEKWAI COMMUNITY ICT CENTER

Students from Bekwai Experimental Junior High School (JHS) participated in an engaging ICT practical session at the Bekwai Community ICT Center. The visit provided hands-on experience in basic computer operations and digital literacy, supplementing the theoretical knowledge gained in class.

The session, facilitated by the center's staff, aimed to enhance students' understanding of essential ICT skills such as word processing, internet navigation, and basic coding. Teachers accompanying the students expressed their gratitude, emphasizing the importance of practical ICT exposure for preparing students to thrive in the digital age.

This initiative reflects growing efforts within the Bekwai municipality to bridge the digital divide and equip students with the tools needed for future opportunities.

TRAINING ARTISANS IN DIGITAL SKILLS FOR WORK

Bekwai, Ghana – Artisans in the Bekwai municipality are receiving a much-needed boost to their skillset through a specialized training program aimed at equipping them with essential digital skills for the modern workplace.

The program, organized by Bekwai Community ICT Center, focuses on introducing artisans to basic digital tools such as email communication, social media marketing, and e-commerce platforms. Participants, including tailors, carpenters, beauticians, and hairdressers, are learning how to expand their businesses online, streamline operations, and connect with a wider clientele.

“This training is timely. It’s opening our eyes to how we can use digital tools to grow our businesses,” said Ama Bonsu, a beautician.

The initiative aligns with the government’s vision of bridging the digital divide and ensuring that artisans can remain competitive in an increasingly digital world. It is expected to impact the livelihoods of participants, many of whom operate small-scale businesses, by creating new opportunities for income generation.

Organizers expressed optimism that this initiative would inspire further programs to integrate technology into Ghana’s informal sector.

BEKWAI COMMUNITY ICT CENTER EMBARKS ON CYBER FRAUD AWARENESS ACTIVITY

The Bekwai Community ICT Center in collaboration with the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) trained a section of people in the Bekwai community on Cyber Fraud Awareness. This exercise was geared towards ensuring that the general public effectively benefit from using the digital space while safeguarding digital safety.

Participants were taken through some common types of scams which include money sent by mistake via Mobile Money scam, make money fast scam, job offer scam, lottery or promotion scam, romance scam (dating apps) etc. as well as how to identify and avoid such fraudulent activities.

Again, they were taken through some rules of engagement in using the digital space as well as the various cybercrime/cybersecurity incident reporting points of contact provided by the Cyber Security Authority.

Participants were overwhelmed by the conduct of the training particularly the impactful content and the orderly presentation of materials. They assured the facilitators that they will uphold all insights given them.
