ASANTE AKIM NORTH MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY SUPPORTS PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES WITH RELIEF ITEMS.
The Asante Akim North Municipal Assembly has organised and distributed relief and livelihood support items to Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) within the Municipality, as part of the Government of Ghana's commitment to improving the living conditions, economic empowerment, and social inclusion of persons with disabilities.
The initiative forms part of the Disability Common Fund, which channels resources through Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) to support PWDs with items and assistance that can improve their livelihoods and enable them to become more economically independent.
Items distributed to beneficiaries included:
- Sewing machines
- Deep freezers and refrigerators
- Hair dryers and salon equipment
- Farming equipment
- Business and trading items
- Educational support
- Medical support
- Charcoal, roofing sheets, spraying machines, and other livelihood-support equipment
The support is intended to help beneficiaries address their immediate needs, strengthen their economic activities, and create opportunities for sustainable livelihoods.
The initiative reflects the vision of the President of the Republic of Ghana to ensure that government interventions reach vulnerable groups at the community level. Through the Disability Common Fund, the Government seeks to provide practical support to PWDs rather than leaving them marginalised, while promoting their participation in economic and social development.
The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), working closely with the Social Welfare and Community Development Department and the Municipal Coordinating Director (MCD), ensured that the distribution process was properly coordinated and carried out smoothly. The Assembly took deliberate steps to ensure the items reached the intended beneficiaries in a transparent and organised manner.
The event was attended by the MCE, the MCD, Nananom, Honourable Assembly Members, staff of the Assembly, representatives of the Social Welfare Department, and beneficiaries.
Speaking at the event, the MCE emphasised the importance of using the items for their intended purposes to improve the livelihoods and wellbeing of beneficiaries. She/He noted that the support demonstrates the Assembly's commitment to working with the Government to ensure that no one is left behind in the development process, particularly persons who may face additional economic and social challenges.
The Asante Akim North Municipal Assembly expressed its appreciation to the Government of Ghana and the President for the continued support provided through the Disability Common Fund, and reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that government interventions are effectively implemented at the local level for the benefit of the people.

SUMMARY REPORT ON MANAGEMENT MEETING HELD ON TUESDAY, 25TH AUGUST 2026

A Management Meeting of the Asante Akim North Municipal Assembly was held on Tuesday, 25th August 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at the Assembly’s Conference Hall. The meeting brought together the MCE, MCD, Heads of Departments, Heads of Units and representatives of stakeholder institutions.

The meeting focused on reviewing the previous minutes and matters arising, as well as assessing the implementation of programmes and activities during the First and Second Quarters of 2026. The previous minutes were read, discussed and corrected where necessary.

The main agenda was the presentation of First and Second Quarter Progress Reports by various departments, units and stakeholder institutions, including Physical Planning, Development Planning, Environmental Health, Agriculture, Works, Urban Roads, Budget, Human Resource, Finance, Procurement, Social Welfare, Internal Audit, Births and Deaths, Records Management, Central Administration, Statistics, Transport, NADMO, GES, GHS and GEA.

The presentations enabled Management to review departmental performance, programmes implemented, achievements, challenges and areas requiring further attention. Management emphasized effective coordination, timely implementation of programmes, proper documentation, timely submission of reports, monitoring of projects and follow-up on decisions.

The meeting also provided an opportunity for members to raise additional issues under **Any Other Business (AOB)**. Overall, the meeting strengthened coordination among departments and stakeholder institutions and provided Management with an overview of the Assembly’s progress during the first half of 2026.

Finance and Administration Sub-Committee Meeting

The Finance and Administration Sub-Committee of the Asante Akim North Municipal Assembly held a meeting on Thursday, 13th August 2026 to deliberate on the financial performance of the Assembly as at June 2026 and the 2026 Mid-Year Composite Budget Review.

The meeting provided an opportunity to assess the Assembly’s revenue and expenditure performance, review the implementation of the approved budget, and consider proposed adjustments under the mid-year budget review.

In attendance were the Hon. Assembly Members, the Municipal Coordinating Director (MCD), Municipal Finance Officer (MFO), Budget Officer, Internal Audit Unit, Revenue Unit, and other relevant stakeholders. The deliberations focused on strengthening financial management, improving revenue performance, and ensuring the effective implementation of the Assembly’s programmes and activities.

As part of efforts by the Government of Ghana, through the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF), to ensure that development is evenly distributed across communities, a sod-cutting ceremony was held on Thursday, 13th August 2026, at Juansa M/A Basic School in the Asante Akim North Municipality for the construction of a new three-unit classroom block.

The initiative forms part of the Government’s commitment to using the District Assemblies Common Fund to address critical development needs at the local level, particularly in the education sector. The provision of adequate and conducive educational infrastructure is essential to improving teaching and learning and creating better opportunities for children.

The project will provide a three-unit classroom block with the necessary supporting facilities to create a safe, comfortable and conducive environment for teaching and learning. The facility is also expected to improve the working conditions of teachers and enhance the overall educational environment at Juansa M/A Basic School.

The ceremony was attended by the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Sarah Amoakoaa, the Municipal Coordinating Director (MCD), representatives from the Assembly’s Works and Engineering, Physical Planning and Procurement Units, the contractor, Inner City Company Limited, the Hon. Assembly Member, school representatives, Nananom and members of the Juansa community.

Speaking at the ceremony, the MCE emphasized the importance of investing in educational infrastructure as a key component of community development. She noted that the construction of the classroom block demonstrates the Government and the Assembly’s commitment to providing pupils with appropriate facilities that support effective teaching and learning.

The MCE further assured the school authorities and the people of Juansa of the Assembly’s commitment to monitoring the project to ensure that it is executed according to the required standards, specifications and agreed timeframe.

The contractor, Inner City Company Limited, also assured the Assembly, school authorities and the community of its commitment to executing the project diligently and delivering quality work within the stipulated five-month construction period.

PROJECT COMPLETION TIMELINE

The project commenced on Thursday, 13th August 2026 and is expected to be completed within five months. The contractor is therefore required to complete the construction within the stipulated five-month period, in accordance with the approved project specifications and contractual requirements.

The construction of the three-unit classroom block is expected to contribute significantly to improving educational infrastructure at Juansa M/A Basic School. It also reflects the broader objective of using the District Assemblies Common Fund to bring development directly to communities and ensure that essential infrastructure is provided where it is needed.

The Assembly looks forward to the successful completion of the project within the stipulated five-month period and its subsequent use to provide a safe, conducive and improved learning environment for the pupils and teachers of Juansa M/A Basic School.

As part of efforts by the Government of Ghana, through the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF), to ensure that development is evenly distributed across communities, a sod-cutting ceremony was held today, Wednesday, 12th August 2026, at T.I. Ahmadiyya Agogo in the Asante Akim North Municipality for the construction of a new three-unit classroom block.

The initiative forms part of the Government’s commitment to using the District Assemblies Common Fund to address critical development needs at the local level, particularly in the education sector. The provision of adequate and conducive educational infrastructure is essential to improving teaching and learning and creating better opportunities for children.

The project, titled “Construction of 1 No. 3-Unit Classroom Block with Office, Store, Staff Common Room and 4-Seater W/C Toilet at Agogo T.I. Ahmadiyya,” will comprise a 3-unit classroom block, an office, store, staff common room and a 4-seater W/C toilet facility.

The facility is expected to provide pupils with a safe, comfortable and conducive environment for teaching and learning, while also improving the working conditions of teachers at T.I. Ahmadiyya Agogo.

The ceremony was attended by the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. As part of the Government of Ghana’s commitment to promoting equitable development and improving access to essential services across communities, a sod-cutting ceremony was held on Wednesday, 12th August 2026, at Nhyiaeso in the Asante Akim North Municipality for the construction of a new ultra-modern Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) Compound.

The project is being funded through the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF) and forms part of efforts to strengthen healthcare infrastructure at the community level. The initiative seeks to bring essential healthcare services closer to residents while improving access to quality and timely primary healthcare.

The proposed ultra-modern CHPS Compound is expected to provide a suitable and well-equipped facility for the delivery of primary healthcare services to the people of Nhyiaeso and surrounding communities. The facility will also provide healthcare workers with a conducive working environment to deliver essential services and respond effectively to the healthcare needs of residents.

The ceremony was attended by the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. The initiative forms part of the Government’s commitment to using the Common Fund to address critical development needs at the local level, particularly in the education sector. A significant portion of the Fund is allocated to support educational infrastructure, recognizing that access to safe, adequate and conducive learning environments is essential to improving the quality of education and the future prospects of children.

The project comprises a 3-unit classroom block, an office, store, staff common room, and a 4-seater KVIP/WC facility. The facility is expected to provide a more suitable learning environment for pupils and improve the working conditions of teachers within the community.

NATIONAL SANITATION DAY EXERCISE AT ANANEKROM

The National Sanitation Day exercise for this month was held on Saturday, 8th August 2026, at Ananekrom in the Asante Akim North Municipality.

The exercise brought together the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), the Municipal Coordinating Director (MCD), staff of the Asante Akim North Municipal Assembly, Assembly Members for Ananekrom, community-based clubs, the Seamstress Club, schools, and residents of Ananekrom.

Participants took part wholeheartedly in cleaning and improving the sanitary conditions of the community. The exercise focused on clearing rubbish, cleaning public spaces, removing weeds, and promoting proper environmental sanitation within the community.

The strong participation from the various groups demonstrated the importance of community involvement and collective responsibility in maintaining a clean and healthy environment.

The Asante Akim North Municipal Assembly appreciates all individuals, groups, schools, and community members who participated in the exercise and contributed to making Ananekrom a cleaner and healthier community.

Two-Day Orientation and Capacity-Building Workshop for Hon. Assembly Members.

A two-day orientation and capacity-building workshop was organized by the Ministry of Local Government for Hon. Assembly Members to equip them with the knowledge and skills required to effectively perform their duties and responsibilities.

The workshop focused on enhancing participants' understanding of the roles and functions of Assembly Members within the local governance system. Facilitators delivered presentations on the legal and administrative framework governing local government, the responsibilities of Assembly Members, committee work, community representation, legislative functions, and ethical standards in public service.

Participants also received training on effective leadership, stakeholder engagement, development planning, budgeting, monitoring of Assembly projects, and strategies for addressing the needs and concerns of their electoral areas. Interactive sessions provided opportunities for Assembly Members to ask questions, share experiences, and discuss practical approaches to improving service delivery.

The workshop was aimed at strengthening the capacity of Hon. Assembly Members to carry out their day-to-day responsibilities efficiently, promote accountability and transparency, and contribute meaningfully to the socio-economic development of their communities and the municipality as a whole.

Budget Committee Meeting Held at the Assembly Hall

A Budget Committee Meeting was held on 15th July 2026 at the Assembly Hall of the Asante Akim North Municipal Assembly. The meeting was chaired by the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) and attended by the Municipal Coordinating Director (MCD), representatives from the Internal Audit Unit, Planning Unit, Finance Department, Budget Unit, Procurement Unit, and other Heads of Departments and key stakeholders.

The meeting provided a platform to review and discuss the Assembly's ongoing activities, financial performance, budget implementation, and key administrative matters. Members deliberated on current developments within the Assembly, assessed progress on planned programmes and projects, and discussed strategies to improve service delivery and ensure the effective utilization of resources.

Participants also shared updates from their respective departments and agreed on measures to strengthen coordination, accountability, and the efficient ex*****on of the Assembly's priorities.
