NATIONAL YOUTH CONFERENCE, 2026

Seven executives and members of the Ashanti Regional Association of the Deaf Youth Section proudly participated in the 2026 National Youth Conference, held at KNUST from 11th to 12th August, 2026.

We were also honoured to have Mr. Braimah, a Deaf teacher and Board Member of the National Youth Authority (NYA), join us at the conference. His presence was a powerful reminder that Deaf young people belong in every space where decisions about the future of young people are made.

Together, we continue to champion inclusive youth participation, leadership, representation, and empowerment of young persons with disabilities.

Happy International Youth Day!

Today, the GNAD Youth Section celebrates the strength, creativity, resilience, and leadership of young people everywhere — especially Deaf youth across Ghana.

This year, we stand with the theme: “Local Youth Actions for the SDGs and Beyond.”

Deaf youth are not just beneficiaries of development — we are leaders, advocates, innovators, and agents of change. Together, let us break barriers, raise our voices, promote inclusion, and create opportunities where every young person can participate and thrive.

The GNAD Youth Section is committed to empowering Deaf young people through leadership development, education, advocacy, and meaningful participation in national development.

With the generous sponsorship of the Bank of Ghana, Tamale Branch, and Empower Deaf Youth, the Northern Regional Association of the Deaf Youth Section successfully organized a three-day Youth Leadership and Awareness Workshop. The workshop brought together Deaf youth leaders and members to strengthen their leadership skills and increase awareness on key issues, including cyber security, mental health, the National Youth Authority (NYA), and human rights.

We extend our heartfelt appreciation to Bank of Ghana, Tamale Branch, and Empower Deaf Youth, for believing in the potential of Deaf youth and investing in their growth. We also thank all facilitators, invited guests, interpreters, organizers, and participants whose commitment and active involvement made the workshop a great success.

Together, we are building confident leaders, promoting inclusion, and creating opportunities for Deaf youth to contribute meaningfully to the development of Ghana.

The GNAD Youth Section successfully held a data collection, mobilization, and sensitization workshop at Mampong School for the Deaf and the Demonstration School for the Deaf.

This impactful engagement was aimed at interacting with deaf students and youth, collecting relevant data to support informed advocacy, and sensitizing them on issues that promote growth, inclusion, and empowerment.

A key part of the session was to expose the students to the many educational and career opportunities available to them, inspiring them to stay focused, work hard, and strive toward the great heights they can achieve in life.

We also took the opportunity to explain the role of the Ghana National Association of the Deaf (GNAD) and the GNAD Youth Section in championing the rights, welfare, and development of deaf persons in Ghana.

Additionally, we engaged with students who recently participated in the Deaf Youth Leadership Camp held at Cape Coast School for the Deaf in collaboration with GNAD. We interacted with them to learn about the progress they have made in implementing their action plans developed at the end of the camp.

The enthusiasm, participation, and potential we witnessed among the students were truly inspiring. Together, we continue to build a future where every deaf young person is informed, empowered, and given the opportunity to thrive.
