Earlier today, we joined the Ghana Shippers' Authority (GSA), TradeMark Africa (TMA), the National AfCFTA Coordination Office, and key regulatory and security agencies, at the Ghana Shippers House, for the Stakeholder Consultation and Validation Workshop on Ghanaโs National Non-Tariff Barrier (NTB) Reporting and Resolution Platform.
Non-Tariff Barriers currently account for an estimated 52% of total trade costs along West African corridors. Removing these bottlenecks is not just a policy objectiveโit is an economic imperative for seamless regional integration and supply chain resilience.
For years, Borderless Alliance has worked hand-in-hand with the Ghana Shippers Authority to advocate for and operationalize effective NTB reporting systems. Seeing this national platform evolve into an AI-powered, omnichannel tool (incorporating WhatsApp, SMS, USSD, and voice entry for all traders) marks a massive step forward in paperless, transparent trade governance.
With automated SLA tracking, intelligent triage, and multi-tier escalation under the National Trade Facilitation Committee (NTFC), the system transitions corridor management from manual, back-channel fixes to real-time data accountability.
As Ghana's Minister of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry rises up to the role of regional NTB Champion for West Africa, integrating this national platform with the upcoming ECOWAS Online Dashboard and the ECOWAS Trade Observatory will be vital. Seamless data integration ensures cross-border trade disputes are resolved swiftly through bilateral trade channels and regional frameworks.
We commend the GSA, TMA, and all stakeholders for driving this unified national asset forward. Borderless Alliance remains committed to ensuring these digital tools translate into hassle-free movement of goods and lower logistics costs across West Africa!
