Ghana's economic indicators have shown significant improvement, with a notable decline in inflation, a strengthening of the cedi, reduced public debt as a percentage of GDP, and a record high of approximately $14.5 billion in gross international reserves, equivalent to nearly six months of import cover. Three years ago, the country was facing severe economic challenges, including inflation exceeding 50%, a rapidly depreciating cedi, and limited access to international markets, forcing it to seek IMF assistance. President Mahama's statement, 'Not as supplicants. As partners,' underscores the progress made. Ghana plans to maintain its collaboration with the IMF through a non-financing arrangement focused on policy reforms without direct financial support or external spending conditions. This distinction highlights the difference between a country that has successfully navigated borrowing and one that has undergone substantial restructuring. To bridge this gap, Ghana requires pragmatic economic and political leadership that diverges from the current capitalistic market system. A tailored approach that integrates African values and culture is vital for developing a thriving economy. By harnessing technological advancements and AI, Ghana can establish a robust manufacturing sector, produce its own cars and medicine, and drive economic growth, ultimately becoming a seven-star economy and surpassing its peers.

I once visited several companies in Accra, especially in Tema, for some assignments. I noticed that almost 80% of these companies are owned by foreign investors. In many of the warehouses and companies I visited, the people in charge were Ewe men. This made me curious, so I asked why Ewe people are often entrusted with leadership roles in many foreign-owned companies.

The response I received was quite surprising. I was told that many foreign employers trust Ewe workers because they are known for their discipline, honesty, respect, and strong home training. For this reason, they are often given important responsibilities in these companies. This reputation has also helped many Ewe people secure employment in the cities.

This is something worth celebrating. Congratulations to the Ewe people the world recognizes your good character and work ethic. Continue to uphold these values. I also hope that one day more foreign investors will establish businesses in the Volta Region.
