I've always found it interesting how our minds work.

Tell someone that 2 billion people don't have access to safe water, and it's such a huge number that it's hard to picture.

But change the perspective...

Imagine walking to work tomorrow and realising that one in every four people you pass doesn't have water at home.

Suddenly, it doesn't feel like a statistic anymore.

It feels human.

Sometimes we don't need bigger numbers.

We just need a different way of looking at them. 💧

But that’s only the beginning.

The real impact is found in every day that follows.

The school mornings that start on time.

The hours no longer spent walking.

The meals cooked with confidence.

The peace of knowing water will still be there tomorrow.

That’s what sustainable access to clean water really means.

Not just changing one day.

Changing every day after.

What keeps me motivated after all these years isn’t really the numbers.

It’s being in the field.

Meeting people. Hearing their stories firsthand. Seeing the things that never make it into an impact report.

The woman who starts earning an income.
The family with a little less stress.
The child with a little more opportunity.

Those stories were always the point.

And honestly, knowing that communities are creating better futures for themselves has always been far more rewarding than anything we could ever keep for ourselves.

That’s the part that never gets old. 💧

We have the luxury of making water part of our personality.

Sparkling or still.

Ice or no ice.

Filtered, flavoured, mineral, alkaline.

The conversation begins with preference.

For millions of people, it begins with availability.

Not “Which water would you like?”

But “Where can I find it?”

Clean water should never be defined by distance, danger or uncertainty.

Yet for millions of people, that’s exactly what it is.

At Project Maji, we’re working to change the meaning of water one community at a time.
