MEET THE NOMINEE: SAMPSON DZIVOR

CP Adult Excellence Award | SCF CP Heroes Awards 2026

Sampson Dzivor, 29, is a Ghanaian living with Cerebral Palsy from the Effutu Municipality in the Central Region whose life is a powerful demonstration of what is possible when persons with disabilities are given the opportunity, support and space to live independently.

Nominating himself for the CP Adult Excellence Award, Sampson's story is one of determination, leadership and purposeful advocacy. Despite the challenges associated with his disability, he has continued to pursue his education and has successfully climbed the academic ladder, earning a first degree. He has now taken another important step in his academic journey and has been admitted to the University of Education, Winneba, to pursue a second degree in Special Education.

His leadership abilities have also distinguished him among his peers. During his undergraduate studies, Sampson led a team of students that won the Student Advocacy Group of the Year Award in 2022 at the Ghana Disability Excellence Awards, following their participation in the Disability Focus Show on Radio Windy Bay 98.3 FM.

Today, Sampson serves as an Inclusion Officer at Azubi Africa, where his personal experiences and professional work continue to shape his contribution to disability inclusion.

Perhaps one of the most striking aspects of Sampson's story is his independence. He rides a motorbike without specialised modifications and has done so for years. For Sampson, riding is not simply a means of transportation. It has become a visible demonstration of what persons with disabilities can accomplish when society looks beyond assumptions about their limitations.

His experiences have also taken him into the lives of families raising persons with disabilities. Through his work and interactions with these families, Sampson has helped challenge negative perceptions about disability and encouraged families to provide their loved ones with greater opportunities and support to develop independence.

Sampson's story therefore extends beyond his personal achievements. He is actively changing the way people think about disability. His life offers families, communities and society a practical example that independence for a person with a disability is not merely an ideal to be discussed—it is an achievable reality.

Why Sampson is a CP Hero

Sampson represents independence, leadership and possibility.

From pursuing higher education to serving as an Inclusion Officer, from leading an award-winning student advocacy team to independently riding a motorbike without specialised adjustments, he continues to challenge assumptions about what persons with disabilities can achieve.

His journey is a reminder that when people with disabilities are given the right opportunities, accommodations and support, independence is not only possible—it can become a lived reality.

For his determination, leadership, advocacy and commitment to changing perceptions about disability, Sampson Dzivor stands as a compelling nominee for the CP Adult Excellence Award at the maiden SCF CP Heroes Awards 2026.

MEET THE NOMINEE: Manaase Owusu Ansah
CP Adult Excellence Award | SCF CP Heroes Awards 2026

Manaase Owusu Ansah, 28, is a young Ghanaian living with Cerebral Palsy whose life embodies resilience, determination and the belief that disability does not define a person's potential.

A wheelchair user, Manaase has never allowed the challenges associated with his disability to determine the limits of his life. Instead, he has turned his experiences into a source of motivation for others, constantly reminding people that the greatness of a person lies in their abilities, not their challenges. His message is simple: focus on what you can do rather than allowing your challenges to define you.

His journey is marked by impressive academic and professional achievements. Manaase holds a degree in Marketing and a Diploma in Journalism from All Nations University. During his time at the university, he served as Deputy SRC Public Relations Officer and distinguished himself as an accomplished debater, earning three debate certificates in recognition of his performance.

Beyond the classroom, Manaase has built a strong presence in communication, media and public speaking. He served as a presenter at GBC and Sunrise FM, where he worked for three years, and subsequently spent a year at MY FM. He has also served as an MC at the Achievers Business Summit, further demonstrating his confidence, communication skills and ability to connect with diverse audiences.

His influence extends beyond traditional media. Manaase has spoken at the No Human Is Useless Global Conference, sharing a platform with speakers from the United States, United Kingdom, Australia and Nigeria. According to his nominator, Abraham Bampoe, Manaase distinguished himself as one of the outstanding speakers at the event.

He has also been selected as a speaker for the upcoming Inclusion Forum by SpecCare Development Center, another testament to the growing recognition of his voice and contribution to conversations around inclusion.

But perhaps what makes Manaase most remarkable is not simply the list of qualifications and platforms he has reached. It is his ability to turn personal challenges into encouragement for others. He is described by his nominator as a fighter who refuses to give up, an excellent communicator, a people's person and a source of inspiration to those around him.

Through his achievements, advocacy and determination, Manaase represents a powerful reminder that disability is not inability.

Why Manaase is a CP Hero

Manaase is not defined by the wheelchair he uses or by the challenges that Cerebral Palsy presents. He is defined by what he continues to achieve despite them and by the lives he inspires through his words, example and unwavering determination.

For these reasons, Abraham Bampoe has nominated Manaase Owusu Ansah for the CP Adult Excellence Award at the maiden SCF CP Heroes Awards 2026.

Today, we celebrate one of our remarkable girls with a physical disability as she graduates from preschool. While many see a graduation gown, we see courage, determination, supportive educators, and a family that chose to believe in her potential.

To every parent raising a child with a disability: believe in your child. Give them the opportunity to learn, grow, make friends, and discover who they can become. Never allow a diagnosis to define their future.

To schools and educators: keep opening your doors. Inclusive education is not charity. It is every child's right. When children with disabilities are welcomed, supported and given the opportunity to participate, they flourish.

To society: see ability before disability. Every child deserves to be seen, included and celebrated.

And to our little graduate, this is only the beginning. Today, you graduated from preschool. Tomorrow, the possibilities are endless.

Today marks an important milestone in the journey of the SCF CP Heroes Awards 2026.

We are honoured to announce that the National Council on Persons with Disability (NCPD) has agreed to support the maiden edition of the SCF CP Heroes Awards, which will be organised under the auspices of the Council.

This follows a productive meeting with the Executive Secretary and his team, where we shared our vision of creating a national platform that celebrates the resilience, achievements and contributions of persons living with Cerebral Palsy while promoting disability inclusion across Ghana.

The Council welcomed the initiative and expressed its commitment to working with us to make the Awards a meaningful platform for advocacy, recognition and empowerment.

This is more than an endorsement of an event—it is an encouragement to every child, young person, adult, caregiver and advocate within the Cerebral Palsy community that your stories matter, your achievements deserve recognition, and your voices deserve to be heard.

We are deeply grateful to the National Council on Persons with Disability for believing in this vision and for partnering with us on this journey.

The work continues, and we look forward to sharing more exciting updates as we count down to 6th October 2026.

COURTESY MEETING WITH SALSIA CARES FOUNDATION (SCF)

The National Council on Persons with Disability (NCPD) held a courtesy meeting with representatives of the Salsia Cares Foundation (SCF) to discuss the maiden edition of the Salsia Cares Foundation CP Heroes Awards 2026, an initiative dedicated to recognising and celebrating the achievements, resilience, and contributions of persons living with Cerebral Palsy (CP) in Ghana.

The meeting provided an opportunity for both institutions to discuss the vision and objectives of the Awards, its significance as a platform for disability advocacy and public awareness, and avenues for strategic collaboration to advance the inclusion and empowerment of persons living with Cerebral Palsy.

The engagement concluded with a shared commitment to promoting disability inclusion and recognising the remarkable accomplishments of persons with Cerebral Palsy. The National Council on Persons with Disability welcomed the initiative and expressed its support for the successful organisation of the maiden Salsia Cares Foundation CP Heroes Awards 2026 under the auspices of the Council. Both parties also explored collaborative approaches to ensure that the Awards become a sustainable platform for advocacy, recognition, empowerment, and public education on Cerebral Palsy in Ghana.

The National Council on Persons with Disability remains steadfast in its commitment to partnering with stakeholders to advance the rights, dignity, inclusion, and full participation of persons with disabilities in all aspects of national development.
