Ghana Malaria Foundation

Ghana Malaria Foundation The Ghana Malaria Foundation (GMF) is a private sector-led Foundation registered as a Company Limite

The GMF came about as a result of the search by stakeholders in malaria for alternate ways of fostering sustainability of funding for malaria in the face of dwindling donor funds, Ghana’s middle income status and demands for counterpart financing. Led by the National Malaria Control Program’s Resource Mobilization Unit, stakeholders organised a series of workshops to brainstorm on alternatives for

achieving the objective of raising domestic funds. At the end, stakeholders agreed that a private sector-led Foundation that is independent and managed by the private sector would best help to raise much needed domestic funds. The NMCP subsequently approached a prominent and patriotic Ghanaian businessman in the person of Mr. Prince Kofi Amoabeng (President of UT Holdings) to be a Malaria Ambassador which he graciously accepted. Mr Amoabeng then set out to put a team of like-minded Ghanaian business men and women to set up the Ghana Malaria Foundation.
