2026 Budget on education
1. Government is rolling out the Ghana Secondary Learning Improvement Programme (GSLIP), a two-year national initiative (2026–2027) to end the double-track system in our secondary schools.
2. Upgrade 10 Category B schools to Category A status, equipping them with modern classrooms, dormitories, libraries, science and ICT laboratories.
3. Upgrade another 30 Category C schools to Category B level, with new classrooms, dormitories, modern science resource centers, digital learning centers and water and sanitation systems;
4. The government will complete 30 of the abandoned E-Blocks (Community Day Senior High Schools) in urban and peri-urban areas and expand access for student.
5. Government will construct;
.200 new Junior High Schools;
• 200 new primary schools;
• 200 kindergartens;
• 400 4-unit teachers’ bungalows; and
• 400 places of convenience in underserved communities.
6. Government will provide free comprehensive curricula-based textbooks covering the following:
• four (4) sets of KG books and workbooks for about 1 million learners;
• four (4) sets of primary textbook for 2 million learners; and
• nine (9) sets of JHS 3 textbooks for 1 million learners.
7. Government has secured $60 million for the construction of Science and Technology University at Damango

i. Free Sanitary Pads- 292 million
j. Teacher Trainee Allowances- 207 million
k. BECE Registration - 169 million
