Changing Lives, One Child at a Time!

Behind every lesson delivered through the Read, Feed and Lead Project in Nkurakan is a story of hope, transformation, and opportunity.

For Harriet Agbo, the program has transformed her son, Joel, a Grade Two pupil. Once less enthusiastic about school, Joel now wakes up eager to learn, attends school willingly, and has shown remarkable improvement in his academic performance and reading skills. According to his mother, he now reads passages and storybooks with confidence and demonstrates a stronger commitment to his education.

Similarly, Janet Akuffo has witnessed a life-changing transformation in her daughter, Rosalinda, a Grade Three pupil. Rosalinda's school attendance, academic performance, and reading ability have improved significantly. Beyond academics, she has become more disciplined, responsible, respectful, and confident in interacting with others. Her mother describes the programme as an opportunity that has helped her daughter believe in herself and embrace learning with enthusiasm.

These inspiring testimonies are a powerful reminder that when children are provided with quality learning support, nutritious meals, mentorship, and a safe environment to grow, they thrive.

OVC Connexions Ghana remains grateful to the KGL Foundation for making these transformations possible and for investing in the future of vulnerable children in Nkurakan.

Together, we are not only improving literacy and numeracy—we are building confidence, nurturing potential, and creating brighter futures.

Nkurakan, Eastern Region – Read, Feed & Lead in Action!

Yesterday, April 25, 2026, marked the successful delivery of the 8th learning session under OVC Connexions Ghana’s Read, Feed and Lead Project for 2026—and the impact continues to grow.

45 children participated in engaging, competency-based literacy and numeracy sessions designed to strengthen foundational learning skills and build confidence in the classroom.

Since its launch in March 2025 with 40 orphaned and vulnerable children, the project has:

Delivered 48 structured learning sessions, alongside monthly gender-focused life skills training.
Expanded in 2026 to reach 50 children, thanks to increased support from the KGL Foundation.

Successfully completed 8 out of 36 planned sessions for 2026

Beyond learning, each session provides nutritious snacks and hot meals, ensuring children are energized, focused, and supported in their overall well-being.

The sessions are facilitated by 3 dedicated teachers from local public basic schools, under the guidance of the National Coordinator—ensuring quality delivery rooted in the community.

This is more than a project—it’s a commitment to empowering children with the skills, nourishment, and confidence they need to thrive.

210 kids, 3 locatiins, one big impact. ✨

Big news from OVC Connexions Ghana! Our Read, Feed and Lead program is now supporting 210 orphans and vulnerable children across 3 locations in Ghana:

📍 Oyibi (Greater Accra)
📍 Ekon (Cape Coast)
📍 Nkurakan (Eastern Region)

Here's the impact you're making possible:

🔹 Oyibi & Ekon – Funded by Sustainable Connexions International (Indiana, USA) since 2021.
👉 160 children will attend 32 learning sessions from Feb 28 – Nov 2026.

🔹 Nkurakan – Funded by KGL Foundation since 2025.
👉 50 children started TODAY (April 11, 2026) and will continue through December 2026 – also for 32 learning sessions.

Nutrition first: Every meeting day = nutritious snacks + lunch. Better health = better learning.

Life skills boost: Once a month, gender-focused sessions build confidence, communication, resilience, and interpersonal skills.

Real results: End-of-term report cards show strong improvements in numeracy & literacy scores.

This is what happens when communities and partners come together to read, feed, and lead children toward a brighter future.
