“No bird flies on one wing””. This African proverb was brought to light by Amina J. Mohammed, the Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations. This proverb reminds us that no society can truly thrive when half of its people are held back.

Across the continent, millions of girls have the talent, ambition, and resilience to become innovators, scientists, entrepreneurs, policymakers, educators, and changemakers. Yet too many still face barriers to education, leadership, economic opportunity, and equal participation.

Advancing opportunity for African girls isn’t about giving them a head start over anyone else. It’s about removing the barriers that prevent them from reaching their full potential.
