The 2026 Human Security Award recognizes the power of collaboration to address complex challenges at the intersection of the environment, health, and human security.

Reflecting on the achievement, Dr. Rose Mwebaza, Director and Regional Representative for Africa at UNEP, an implementing partner of the award-winning Forest Okyeman project, noted: “It is through the alchemy of collaboration with national and local partners that the United Nations system transcends silos, fashioning integrated, people-centric interventions that do not merely respond to crises, but fortify the sinews of community resilience, safeguard the fragile fabric of livelihoods, and propel nations along the arduous yet imperative path towards sustainable development.”

Following the validation of the new training programmes and materials under the Kigali Implementation Plan project, we have commenced training on Refrigeration Carbon Dioxide (CO₂) technology and Mobile Air-Conditioning (MAC) systems for technicians, trainers, students and industry practitioners.

This week, in collaboration with Environmental Protection Authority, Ghana, participants are undertaking a training to strengthen practical skills in installation, commissioning, servicing, maintenance, and safety practices. This initiative supports the adoption of climate-friendly and energy-efficient cooling technologies in Ghana.

Building a digital platform is not just about technology; it is about ensuring it works for the businesses it is designed to serve.

Today, UNDP Ghana , in partnership with the Ghana Enterprises Agency and Ghana-India Kofi Annan Centre of Excellence in ICT, engaged MSMEs across the Southern Zone through Business Advisory Centres (BACs) to onboard businesses onto the and gather valuable user feedback ahead of the platform’s official launch.

The sessions provided entrepreneurs with an opportunity to explore the platform’s features, access support services, and share insights on how the Gateway can better respond to the needs of Ghana’s MSMEs.

The feedback received will help refine and strengthen the platform, ensuring it delivers practical solutions that connect businesses to information, training, financing opportunities, and markets.

Together, we are building a more accessible, responsive, and inclusive digital ecosystem for MSMEs across Ghana.

A major global dialogue on justice and equity is underway in Accra.

Heads of State and ministers from over 80 countries including the Presidents of Senegal, Namibia, Liberia, and São Tomé and Príncipe, the Prime Minister of Barbados, and the Vice Prime Minister of Equatorial Guinea have gathered for the Next Steps Conference on Reparatory Justice.

Convened by H.E. President John Dramani Mahama, this gathering follows the recent adoption of UN Resolution A/RES/80/250, which formally declared transatlantic enslavement as the gravest crime against humanity.

As part of its ongoing engagement with global development partners and host governments, United Nations Development Programme - UNDP is supporting this platform for dialogue, international cooperation, and sustainable equity.

Speaking at the launch of the ‘Towards Collaborative Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Cybersecurity Governance in Africa l’ project funded by Japan, UNDP Res. Rep. highlighted the growing possibility of conflict in an AI-driven world.

‘It is no longer a distant concern. While AI and digital technologies are transforming societies and creating new opportunities, they are also widening existing divides and exposing new vulnerabilities. This initiative is an important step towards fostering the policy dialogue, governance frameworks, and regional cooperation needed to ensure these technologies serve as a force for peace, inclusion, and sustainable development.”
