At the 61st Regular Session of the UN Human Rights Council on 6th March 2026 in Geneva, Dr. Patrick Lessene, Director of the Institute for Law & Development (ILAD) and Executive Director of Centre d’Etudes Juridiques Africaines (CEJA), made a presentation at the conference on the Human Rights Situation in Africa. In his introduction, he stressed that the African civil society plays an essential role with regard to the respect and promotion of human rights in Africa. In addition, he emphasized the need for the strengthening of African civil society institutions so that they can promote human rights and promote the well-being of the populace.

Lors de la 61e session régulière du Conseil des droits de l'homme de l'ONU le 6 mars 2026 à Genève, Dr Patrick Lessene, Directeur de Institute for Law & Development (ILAD) et Directeur Exécutif du Centre d'Études Juridiques Africaines (CEJA), a fait une présentation sur le " Renforcement institutionnel de la société civile en Afrique" lors de la conférence sur la situation des droits de l'homme en Afrique. Dans son intervention, il a souligné que la société civile africaine joue un rôle essentiel en ce qui concerne le respect et la promotion des droits de l'homme en Afrique. De plus, il a insisté sur la nécessité de renforcer les institutions de la société civile africaine afin qu'elles puissent promouvoir les droits de l'homme et le bien-être de la population.
