Partnering with Kukun, we took the Wiki Loves Places campaign to the streets of Osu Ako-Adjei to document landmarks, roads, businesses, and other places through geotagged photographs (photos with location information).

Participants were introduced to Wikimedia Commons and learned how their contributions will support the documentation of local places, improve free online maps and make local places easier to find and explore.

Using maps of the Ako-Adjei area, groups explored different parts of the area, capturing photos along the way.

We thank all who participated. Every photo helps make knowledge about Ghana freely accessible.

We were thrilled to host volunteers at the Work From Home Workspace for a localization workshop to translate interface messages for Suggestion Mode into Ghanaian Pidgin using Translatewiki.net.

Suggestion Mode is a feature that recommends useful tasks editors can complete to improve Wikipedia articles and has quickly become a favourite among both organisers and editors in the community.

During the workshop, participants translated all 110 interface messages for the feature!

The workshop also highlighted the importance of community collaboration in translation work. Volunteers worked together to ensure messages were clear and consistent.

We thank everyone who contributed and we look forward to translating more of Wikimedia's most widely used and loved features, making them accessible to more language communities.

What makes someone come back to Wikipedia? What about after 19 years? 

Wikipedia’s editing history is full of unusual records and patterns that reflect the project’s longevity. In this case, a user was blocked for vandalizing a page. The following edit was a post almost two decades later on their own talk page requesting reinstatement. 

In their request, the user said “i was 16 and stupid. its been 20 years and I don’t even remember doing it at this point.”

An admin replied “I’ve unblocked your account. Now get to work!”
