Did you know you can turn farm waste into fertiliser and deliver it to your crops through the water pipe? 🌱

At the Agrivision Project, that's exactly what we do. We built a biodigester that uses a natural anaerobic process to convert organic material into liquid organic fertilizer.

This fertiliser is then injected directly into our irrigation water line, meaning every time we water the farm, we are also feeding it. No expensive synthetic inputs. No chemical runoff. No waste. This is called fertigation, and it is one of the most efficient and environmentally friendly ways to grow food. We are making it accessible and demonstrable for farmers in the Upper East Region.

Have questions about how a bio-digester works? Drop them in the comments; we'll answer

In Northern Ghana, the dry season has always meant one thing for farmers: stop. No rain. No water. No farming. At the Agrivision Project, we decided to change that. We built a 600mΒ³ underground reservoir using local methods to store borehole water. We installed a rain hose irrigation system powered by a 25 HP pump. We added drip irrigation, crop covers, mulching, and greenhouse techniques. The result? We grow food through the dry season. Solar panels power the water system, which means our year-round farming does not depend on expensive fuel or the national grid. This is what climate resilience looks like not waiting for the rain to return, but building systems that work without it. πŸ“ Tilly Community, Zebilla Road, Upper East Region.

We have something to show you. 🌱 In the Tilly Community of Northern Ghana, Dziko Centre For Climate Justice has built a model farm, the Agrivision Project, where we are proving that sustainable, year-round farming is possible, even in one of Ghana's most climate-vulnerable regions. This is a demonstration and a statement that farmers in the Upper East Region deserve access to the best tools, knowledge, and methods, but transformation. We are growing onions, maize, and okra. We have built an underground reservoir that stores borehole water for dry season use. We use solar energy, drip irrigation, and a bio-digester to make organic fertiliser from waste. And we are just getting started. Stay with us; we'll be sharing the full story, step by step.

The young people of Ghana have the opportunity to safeguard our environment and make it safe for generations yet to come. We are Dziko and we are leading that charge!

We are a group of young people leading other young minds to sustainable solutions for our environment and our benefits. This is Dziko!

ABSA BANK GHANA LTD, in collaboration with the Dziko Center for Climate Justice, hosted a hands-on workshop at Accra Technical University aimed at equipping young tech minds with the tools to tackle climate challenges through innovation.

The workshop had students studying Computer Science, Cybersecurity, and Applied Informatics in attendance and explored the theme:
β€œTech x Climate Innovation: Turning Problems into Climate Solutions.”

This workshop reflects the bank’s and the centre's collective ongoing commitment to environmental stewardship and youth development, especially in advancing a circular economy in Ghana.

πŸ” What made the session powerful?

1. A systems introduction to plastic waste, e-waste, smart farming, and clean energy

2. A showcase of Dziko’s biomass pellet innovation

3. Demonstrations of upcycled products and hands-on prototyping

Reflective discussions on how young people can build scalable solutions
From concept to community impact, the message was clear: climate action must be collaborative, tech-driven, and youth-led.

Kudos to Absa Bank Ghana for investing in climate-smart innovation and to the team at Dziko Center for Climate Justice for continuously building spaces where young people can imagine, create, and lead toward a regenerative future.
