This morning, Hon. Mavis Kuukua Bissue, Member of Parliament for Ahanta West, paid a courtesy visit to the GILLBT Accra Office to commend our efforts in developing the Ahanta language and translating the Bible into Ahanta.

She presented a beautiful plaque and certificate to GILLBT in appreciation of our contribution to preserving and promoting the Ahanta language through Bible translation and literacy.

We are deeply encouraged by this recognition and remain committed to making God’s Word available in every Ghanaian language.

GILLBT honors the life and indelible legacy of Dr. Katharine (Katy) Barnwell, a beloved pioneer in Bible translation who went home to be with the Lord on September 29.

Often called “the mother of Bible translation in Africa,” Katy reshaped the field by empowering local churches and first-language translators. Her influential methods and global standard textbook directly helped train many of our own leaders at GILLBT.

We join the many other Bible translation organizations around the world to honor her groundbreaking work and faithfulness. While we mourn her passing, we celebrate her legacy that continues to bear fruit in eternity. Our deepest condolences and prayers are with her family.

May we too be found faithful.

As part of our GILLBT@63 celebration, staff from our Accra office had a wonderful time of fellowship yesterday, Sunday, September 28th, at ICGC, The New Wine Temple in East Legon!

We were truly overwhelmed by the warm welcome and incredible hospitality extended by the church family. It was an excellent opportunity to share the heart of GILLBT’s mission, emphasizing the vital work of mother tongue literacy and Bible translation across Ghana.

The service concluded with a deeply encouraging moment as the church leadership and congregation prayed for the GILLBT team and assured us of their continuous prayers and financial support. We also received a generous financial donation during the service.

Thank you, ICGC The New Wine Temple, , ICGC, for affirming our work and partnering with us to bring God’s Word to every Ghanaian in their heart language.

Yesterday, September 23, we hosted a wonderful press soiree at the GILLBT Guesthouse in Cantonments, Accra. It was an incredible and interactive session where we engaged with news editors to discuss the importance of mother tongue literacy and Bible translation in Ghana.

Our mission is to ensure every Ghanaian can access God's Word and education in the language they understand best. The discussions were rich and insightful, and we're excited about the renewed partnerships that will help us enhance our visibility across the nation.

This event marks the beginning of a broader campaign. We are happy to announce that similar meetings will be replicated in our middle and northern zones as we work to bring GILLBT closer to communities and partners everywhere.

We believe that by working with the media, we can reach more people and change more lives.

Today, September 11, 2025, a delegation from GILLBT had the immense privilege of meeting with the Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church, Ghana. It was a wonderful time of fellowship and fruitful discussion on how we can deepen our partnership and work together to advance the work of Bible translation.

We were excited to discuss the upcoming GILLBT Day of Prayer in October and explore how the Methodist Church can be actively involved. We also shared plans for the roundtable meeting in Accra, where leaders of different churches can come together to collaborate on the mission of making God’s Word accessible to all of Ghana’s language communities.

Together, we are a force for change, ensuring that every person can experience the transformational power of the Bible in their own heart language. We left feeling inspired and hopeful for what the future holds for this vital partnership!
