TRIBUTE TO PASTOR AGNES NYAMADI

“Mama of LDF” 🕊️🕊️
The important thing is not how many years in your life, but how much life in your years! Pastor Agnes Nyamadi whom we affectionately call “The Mama of LDF” or simply “Mummy” may not have reached a 100 but her 66 years was full of life because she spent it serving and helping others. One evidence of the impact her life is the existence of Living Dreams Foundation (LDF). The foundation which is into paediatric oncology advocacy and support programmes would simple not have seen the light of day nor last as long without the support of our mother.
Right from the inception of LDF to the ex*****on of our programmes, Mama Agnes has been there for us at every step. She came to every advocacy programme and spoke up for children living with cancer. Her name might not have been captured in any newspaper however; she was instrumental in pushing for the NHIS coverage of some paediatric cancers as she added her voice to that of other stakeholders through advocacy.
She gave her money, and she gave items, repeatedly to support LDF and its activities. When the Foundation had no place to work from, she opened her home. Her house became our small office and our storeroom. Every year, the items we gathered were kept in her house until we took them to the Paediatric Oncology Clinic at Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital for donation. Many children and families received help because her door was always open.
She also knew the pain of a sick child because her own child once had leukaemia and had to spend almost a decade in the hospital. Because of this, anytime she walks into the ward for a donation or visit, she did not do so as a stranger but as someone who has experienced the pain, fear and anxiety of parents whose children are on admission for cancer. She would often sit with these, speak words of hope to them, and tell them they were not alone. Many frightened parents received encouragement and hope because she identified with their plight and gave them timely godly counsel especially to those who were almost giving on the treatments and planning to opt for discharge against medical advice.
One unique quality that Mama Agnes possessed was her calm. She stayed positive even in the most trying times. She was an optimist, an encourager, and a problem solver. When trouble came, she did not panic. She looked for a way forward, and she helped us find it. It was as if anxiety had no place in her. Her calm and motherly ways helped shape Living Dreams Foundation into what it is today.
Mama, thank you for your love, your gifts, and your presence. You made room for our dream in your home and in your heart. You believed in our dream, and we promise to keep it alive in your name.
To the family, please accept our deepest condolences. We share in your loss, and we are grateful that you shared Mama with us. May God comfort you.
