The USAID/Ghana Strengthening Accountability in Ghana’s Education System (SAGES) Systems Strengthening Activity (SSA) is supporting Ghana’s Ministry of Education and its agencies to strengthen accountability for learning in Ghana’s primary schools. The primary objectives of the activity are threefold:
● Strengthen the enabling environment for education accountability in primary education.
● Improv

e the performance of education system actors and improve the effectiveness of their interactions with each other, in support of education accountability.
● Improve education management and citizen engagement in USAID’s Zone of Influence.

The farming community in Wa East District has taken a major step towards strengthening education accountability.

In a democratic process, a general meeting was convened to reconstitute the School Management Committee (SMC) for the local school. The newly elected executives are:

✅ Chairperson: Kandengee Sumaila
✅ Deputy Chairperson: Abudu Labaitu
✅ Financial Secretary: Yendor Koori

This is an exciting development as SMCs play a crucial role in developing School Performance Improvement Plans, monitoring implementation, and holding schools accountable for better learning outcomes.

The reconstitution reflects the community's commitment to actively participating in their children's education journey. Kudos to Baayiri for prioritizing accountability and inclusion in the education system!

We look forward to working closely with the new SMC members as we collectively strive to uplift education standards in the region.

Empowering Collaboration: Highlights from Our Knowledge Management and Learning Consortium Event.

Participatory engagement at our two-day program with KML Coordinators and Communications Specialists from the USAID/Ghana SAGES Systems Strengthening Activity consortium. Together, we dove into empowering our partners to craft their own KML strategies in sync with our main plan.
From sharing best practices to fostering collaboration, we're thrilled to have worked together to amplify our collective knowledge and experiences towards our goals. This event wasn't just about learning, it was about building strong bonds and a shared vision for knowledge management and learning across our consortium.
We are keeping the momentum going as we continue to harness our collective knowledge, drive our objectives, and create positive change in the ZOI.

Without access to clean water, students' health is compromised, leading to absenteeism and reduced academic performance. We have kicked off our Community Score Card (CSC) step-down trainings as part of the USAID/Ghana SAGES Systems Strengthening Activity! 📚 Our goal? Building capacity among School Improvement Support Officers, Girl Child Officers, and Community Development Officers across 8 Zones of Influence (ZOI). They'll be spearheading dialogue between communities and schools to pinpoint barriers to learning outcomes and craft effective action plans.
