Participants engaged directly with the Ghana Enterprises Agency Business Resource Centre, Delchris Africa Ltd, TB Makafui Enterprise (Flosell Ltd), Miyingor Women Processors, and the Department of Agriculture (WIAD), gaining access to ready markets, planting materials, fingerlings, and business advisory services.

A motivational video featuring a young woman entrepreneur inspired participants to embrace resilience, innovation, and growth.
Discussions focused on market demand, product standards, pricing, and value addition.

This initiative has boosted business knowledge, confidence, and market access, laying a solid foundation for income generation and enterprise development.

With support from KGL foundation, RAAM Foundation convened a multi-stakeholder engagement in the Central Tongu District to address Social and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) and human rights abuses.

The session brought together representatives from the Health Directorate, CHRAJ, DOVVSU, Social Welfare, GES,
Traditional Council, Assembly Members, Media, and community structures.

Discussions highlighted physical, emotional, economic, and emotional abuse, as well as challenges such as underreporting, weak follow-up systems, limited resources, and inactive child protection structures.

Key recommendations focused on strengthening collaboration between statutory and traditional systems, boosting legal literacy, resourcing DOVVSU and CHRAJ, and reviving community protection structures. This engagement has created a strong foundation for coordinated, community-driven responses to SGBV and human rights issues in the district.

They were introduced to the Entrepreneurship Savings and Loans Group (ESLG) model to enhance savings, access credit, and strengthen livelihoods.

The sessions tackled barriers like social stigma, limited resources, and exclusion from economic opportunities, while fostering community cohesion, human rights awareness, and confidence in entrepreneurship.

RAAM Foundation with Support from KGL has successfully facilitated the formation and training of Village Savings and Loans Associations (VSLAs) in Dadoboe, Wute, and Adidome, reaching 61 women farmers from the cassava and fish value chains.

Over three days, participants were trained on leadership, savings & loan management, and group governance and each group elected leaders, set meeting schedules, and received VSLA kit boxes with record-keeping tools.

By the end of the training, the groups had mobilized enough fund through buying of shares and social funds contribution, giving members access to affordable loans for business growth and household needs.

This initiative is already building financial literacy, savings culture, and solidarity, with many participants saving collectively for the first time.

Listening First, Empowering Better

As part of the YEETS Project supported by the KGL Foundation, the RAAM Foundation conducted a comprehensive needs assessment across communities including Adidome, Wute, Avakpedome, Dadobee, Sokpoe, Dove, Tsetsekpo, and Kpevekor.

Through surveys and focus group discussions, we engaged 69 participants including traditional and religious leaders, cassava and fish farmers, traders, trokosi survivors, and caregivers to understand the real barriers and opportunities in the cassava and fish value chains.

🔍What We Learned:
Limited access to skills training, capital, and markets.
Persistent stigma and psychosocial trauma.
Strong interest in collective empowerment through women’s groups and cooperatives.
Demand for livelihood support in areas like gari production and fish smoking

Despite logistical challenges like mobilizing participants during the farming season and covering food and transport costs the process revealed both the depth of need and the readiness of these communities to transform their futures.

This assessment reinforces our commitment to not only provide skills and financial access but also address the deeper social and emotional realities our participants face.

Together, we’re not just building businesses we’re rebuilding lives.

Planting the Seeds of Change

Get to know one of the 80 amazing young ladies who have just finished a hands-on training from the under YEETS Project, made possible thanks to the KGL Foundation.

She is a teenage survivor, a dreamer and, now, an aspiring entrepreneur. She isn’t yet one of the legions who have launched a business through the program, though like virtually all of them, she now has the skills, the confidence and the knowledge to make exactly that bold next move.

In interactive sessions on cassava processing, fish processing, business planning, financial literacy and marketing, she and others like her are learning to turn their ideas into business ventures that will make them money. Her description was that the training content was not just content but inspiration, empowerment, and the start of something new.

Now, one step closer thanks to the right kind of help and a whole lot of encouragement to contributing to a future that is sustainable for her and her family. This is what it looks like to be empowered.
