African Union Day is not just a date on the calendar. It is a reminder of Africa’s shared history, common struggles, collective identity, and the dream of a united and transformed continent.

It calls us to reflect on how far Africa has come, the challenges that remain, and the responsibility of young people in building The Africa We Want.

For us at AYLF, this day is important because Pan-Africanism must not remain only an idea. It must become action, leadership, collaboration, and youth participation in shaping Africa’s future.

Join us tomorrow as we commemorate African Union Day and reflect on the theme:

We are pleased to announce the concluding session of our event, designed by youth and explicitly for youth. This final dialogue will amplify the voices, ideas, and leadership potential of young people across West Africa and beyond. And the session has two parts English and French

English Session
Hosted by Mr. James Aaporekuu and Hon. Dorcas Sharon Bagobiri, this session will explore:
“Empowering the Next Generation: Youth, Mentorship, and the Future of Women’s Leadership in West Africa.”

With over 50% of West Africa’s population under 30, the region’s future hinges on how well we equip young people with mentorship, skills, and platforms to lead. This conversation will examine how mentorship can transform potential into policy, innovation, and social change.

French Session
Facilitated by Hon. DODJI ADJOAVI EDWIGE and Dr. Doh Koné. PhD., this session will reflect on:
“Honouring the Legacy of West African Women Who Shaped Social Change, Political Transformation, and Cultural Identity.”

West African women have long driven progress in governance, education, peace-building, and culture, yet their stories are often under‑told. This session will celebrate their legacy and inspire a new generation to carry their torch with courage and clarity.

These sessions will be expertly moderated by an accomplished bilingual young woman, a proud Senegalese by birth, thriving in Germany by residence whose transnational perspective bridges the grassroots realities of West Africa with global leadership discourses.

We are confident this session will be exceptional, impactful, and truly memorable, offering a space where ideas turn into commitments and young leaders turn into storytellers of their own futures.

Do not be a passive seeker of stories be the storyteller. Step up, Lead and Shape West Africa's Future!
