*ADC’s Latest Research on Ghana’s Elections 2028 🇬🇭🇬🇭🇬🇭*

As Ghana gradually journeys toward the 2028 General Elections, political discussions, strategic calculations, and public expectations are already shaping the national conversation. The latest political research findings released by the Africa Development Council (ADC) present a revealing picture of the mood of the Ghanaian electorate, the changing dynamics of political loyalty, and the issues likely to determine the next leadership of the Republic.

The findings indicate that the Ghanaian voter of today is no longer motivated merely by party colours, emotional slogans, or historical political attachments. Across towns, villages, campuses, marketplaces, workplaces, and social spaces, there is growing evidence that citizens are becoming more issue-driven, performance-oriented, and economically conscious than ever before.

According to the research, the ordinary Ghanaian is increasingly concerned about the rising cost of living, unemployment among the youth, the depreciation of the cedi, taxation pressures, healthcare delivery, quality education, corruption, and the widening gap between the political class and the struggling masses. Many voters believe that elections in 2028 may not simply be about political parties, but rather about competence, credibility, accountability, and the ability to restore hope and economic confidence.

The ADC report further reveals that the youth demographic may become the single most decisive voting bloc in 2028. Ghana’s youthful population is becoming more politically alert, digitally connected, outspoken, and less tolerant of broken promises. Young people are demanding practical opportunities, innovation-driven governance, entrepreneurship support, quality jobs, and transparent leadership. They are asking difficult questions and expecting convincing answers.

One significant trend emerging from the research is the growing dissatisfaction among floating voters. This category of voters appears increasingly willing to cross party lines if they feel neglected, disappointed, or economically frustrated. The era where political loyalty was guaranteed irrespective of performance appears to be gradually fading. Many voters now insist that leadership must produce measurable results rather than mere political rhetoric.

The ADC research also points to a possible transformation in campaign strategies ahead of 2028. Traditional rallies and loud political propaganda may no longer be enough to win the confidence of the electorate. Instead, voters are expected to pay closer attention to policy alternatives, economic recovery plans, leadership character, integrity, communication skills, and the demonstrated ability to manage national resources responsibly.

Another striking revelation is the increasing demand for political humility and servant leadership. Many Ghanaians reportedly desire leaders who are accessible, empathetic, disciplined, and genuinely connected to the realities of ordinary citizens. There is a growing national expectation for leaders who listen more, engage more, and govern with sincerity rather than arrogance.

The report also highlights concerns over political polarization and the need for national unity. A large section of respondents believe Ghana’s democracy can only grow stronger when political competition is guided by tolerance, respect, issue-based debates, and peaceful coexistence. Citizens are increasingly calling on political actors to avoid insults, misinformation, divisive propaganda, and tensions that threaten national stability.

Economically, the findings suggest that bread-and-butter issues will dominate the 2028 campaign season. Whichever political tradition successfully convinces Ghanaians that it possesses realistic solutions to inflation, job creation, industrialization, agriculture, education, healthcare, and infrastructural development may enjoy a major electoral advantage.

The ADC research therefore serves not merely as a political forecast, but as a mirror reflecting the expectations, frustrations, fears, and aspirations of the Ghanaian people. It is a reminder that democracy is evolving and that the Ghanaian voter is becoming increasingly sophisticated, observant, and demanding.

As 2028 approaches, one message rings loudly across the political landscape of Ghana:
The people are watching.
The youth are listening.
The nation is evaluating.
And the next election may ultimately belong to the political force that offers not just promises, but vision, trust, competence, hope, and genuine transformation for every Ghanaian citizen. 🇬🇭

*THE ROAD CARNAGE MUST BE STOPPED: A CALL FOR URGENT ACTION ON ALTERED SUSPENSION SYSTEMS AND THE SAFETY OF VOXY VANS*
By Ing. Dr. Sogbey (Expanded Write-Up)

Road traffic accidents have, over the years, evolved into a national emergency quietly claiming lives, shattering families, and draining the socio-economic vitality of our nation. The rising tide of road carnage is not merely a consequence of human error; it is increasingly a product of mechanical recklessness, regulatory lapses, and a dangerous culture of vehicle modification that prioritizes aesthetics and profit over safety.

At the heart of this growing crisis lies a critical but often overlooked issue: the alteration of vehicle suspension systems, particularly among commercial transport vehicles such as the widely used Voxy vans. These modifications, though sometimes perceived as harmless or even beneficial, have far-reaching and often fatal implications.

Understanding Suspension Systems and Vehicle Stability

A vehicle’s suspension system is not an arbitrary assembly of springs and shock absorbers; it is a carefully engineered structure designed to ensure optimal contact between the tyres and the road, provide passenger comfort, and most importantly, maintain vehicle stability under varying speeds and road conditions.

When manufacturers design a vehicle, they calibrate its centre of gravity to the point at which the vehicle’s mass is evenly distributed. This delicate balance ensures that the vehicle remains stable, especially when navigating curves, accelerating, or braking at high speeds.

However, when the suspension system is altered whether by raising or lowering the vehicle beyond manufacturer specifications, this balance is disrupted.

The Dangerous Effects of Altered Suspension Systems

1. Shift in Centre of Gravity
Alterations to suspension height directly affect the vehicle’s centre of gravity. Raising the suspension makes the vehicle top-heavy, increasing the likelihood of rollovers, especially during sharp turns or sudden maneuvers. Conversely, excessively lowering the suspension can compromise ground clearance and control.

2. Reduced Stability at High Speeds
Vehicles with modified suspensions often exhibit unpredictable handling characteristics. At top speeds, even minor steering inputs can result in exaggerated responses, increasing the risk of losing control.

3. Uneven Weight Distribution
Alterations can lead to improper load distribution across the tyres, reducing traction and increasing stopping distances—factors that are critical during emergency braking situations.

4. Accelerated Wear and Mechanical Failure
Non-standard suspension modifications place undue stress on other vehicle components such as axles, tyres, and braking systems, increasing the likelihood of sudden mechanical failure on the road.

The Case of Voxy Vans: A National Concern

The Voxy van, a popular choice in the commercial transport sector due to its affordability and passenger capacity, has increasingly become associated with unsafe modifications. In a bid to maximize profit or enhance appearance, some operators alter suspension systems to carry heavier loads or achieve a particular aesthetic.

This practice has dire consequences. Reports of accidents involving such vehicles often point to loss of control, instability, and rollover incidents clear indicators of compromised vehicle dynamics.

A Call to Action: Grounding Voxy Vans for Inspection

In light of the above, it is both prudent and necessary to call for the immediate grounding of Voxy vans for comprehensive inspection. This is not a punitive measure but a preventive one aimed at safeguarding lives and restoring sanity to our roads.

Recommended Measures:

1. Mandatory Nationwide Inspection Exercise
All Voxy vans and similar commercial vehicles must undergo rigorous roadworthiness inspections, with particular emphasis on suspension systems.

2. Strict Enforcement of Manufacturer Specifications
Regulatory bodies must ensure that no vehicle operates outside the design parameters set by manufacturers.

3. Certification and Monitoring of Vehicle Modifications
Any form of modification should require prior approval and certification by authorized engineering bodies.

4. Public Education Campaigns
Drivers, vehicle owners, and transport unions must be sensitized to the dangers of unauthorized modifications.

5. Sanctions for Non-Compliance
Operators found flouting these regulations must face stringent penalties, including fines, license suspension, or withdrawal of operating permits.

Conclusion: A Collective Responsibility

The fight against road carnage is not the responsibility of government alone. It is a shared duty, one that calls for the active participation of engineers, transport operators, regulatory authorities, and the general public.

We must move from reactive lamentation to proactive prevention. Every life lost on our roads is a tragedy that could, in many cases, have been avoided through adherence to safety standards and responsible engineering practices.

Let us, therefore, heed this urgent call. Let us restore discipline to our roads, integrity to our engineering practices, and above all, value to human life.

The road carnage must stop and it must stop now.
