Short story and a Food for Thought

Imagine you have your house. Someone comes to forcefully take it over and enforces their own rule over you. They create rules you must obey and you must buy goods from their own home. They do the same with all your neighbouring houses.

All the things that belonged to you, they now claim them, taking at will, profiting as much as they can. When they have wars, they take you and your children to the frontlines to fight and die. Those who die are left to rot, those who survive are not honoured, or even paid their due. Until you can't take it anymore. You rise up to demand that the stranger should leave your house. He refuses, unleashes his dogs on you and treating you cruelly despite having benefited so much from your house, against your will.

Soon your neighbours also start agitating. When things get too hot for the stranger, he agrees to leave. But gives you and your neighbours two options.

Option 1
He says "I am going to form an association of all the neighbours so that there will still be some control over your houses even though I will no longer be directly in charge"

Option 2
"You can declare total independence from me and be on your own".

As a proud person who knows what it means to be deprived of your independence and insulted for so long, you choose Option 2.

The stranger gets so angry. He's shouting and throwing things about. He finally decides that before he leaves, he will tear down anything he added to your house for all the time that he was there, even though it was money he got from your house that he used to add those things. So he begins to destroy the paintings, burn furniture, cut down trees, kill all chickens, poor all the water away. And then he leaves.

Seeing what he has done to your house, your neighbours fearing same fate then decide to go for Option 1. He then continues to control all the money in their houses, their education and their wealth for the next 60 years.

Food for thought - Imagine if all the neighbours had joined you. What power would the stranger have over the next 60 years? 🤔

This story is the story of what France 🇫🇷 did in Guinea 🇬🇳 when in 1958, led by Sekou Toure, they refused to join the France Community but chose total independence.

The next time Emmanuel Macron talks about civilisation, show him the savagery of his ancestors.

Sekou Toure was a great Pan-Africanist who cherished a united Africa. He is waiting for us to fulfil his dream. .

As a seasoned professional classroom facilitator with nearly a decade of experience, I have reached a pivotal point in my journey. The thrill of full-time facilitation, once my passion, has waned, and I find myself reflecting deeply on this shift. While I cherish the moments spent engaging with students, I have begun to uncover the roots of my unease and how best to navigate this new chapter in my life.

It has become increasingly evident to me that a bold move is necessary—one that honors the profound calling within me that yearns for my full engagement. My part-time endeavors ignite my passion and clarity, while my full-time role seems to tug incessantly in another direction, leaving me caught in a whirlwind of uncertainty.

At the heart of my being, I am consumed by a love for teaching, the collaborative spirit of teamwork, and the joy of making tangible progress. Yet, I am equally driven by the transformative power of writing and advocacy—forces I believe can spark meaningful change and contribute to a vibrant, flourishing continent where prosperity is shared among all.

I am now embarking on a transformative journey toward a role that beautifully intertwines teaching, thought leadership, and my aspirations as an authorpreneur through innovative outreach initiatives.

My dedicated team at United For Humanity is passionately pursuing a range of impactful social projects, including the ambitious #100-Million-Read Homage Africa initiative. Our vision is to disseminate 100 million copies of "Homage Africa" by the year 2030, reaching individuals and communities across the continent, igniting minds and inspiring hearts.

Despite the challenges that accompany our status as a nonprofit social organization, we refuse to stand idly by as we witness the deeply entrenched injustices that plague the African landscape. We are resolute in our commitment to challenge the status quo.

We strive to forge connections with like-minded individuals, organizations, schools, and communities, cultivating partnerships and supportive frameworks that will amplify our efforts and maximize our impact.

Our team is unwavering in our belief that the power of reading, coupled with creativity and empathy—championed by everyday people—can indeed catalyze profound change in the lives of countless individuals and contribute to a brighter future for Africa.

Your support is not just appreciated; it is vital! We invite you to join us through donations, bulk purchases, or partnerships, as together we can help reshape Africa’s future through the transformative power of reading.
