MEET THE NATIONAL PRESIDENT OF YAWC NETWORK UK CHAPTER, JULIE EFRANCE

Julie Efrance is a multifaceted community development specialist, women’s empowerment advocate, and media professional dedicated to creating inclusive spaces where marginalised voices lead the conversation. She holds a BA in Applied Social Studies and an MA in Community & Youth Work, grounding her advocacy in academic rigour and frontline practice.

As President of the UK Chapter of the Young African Women’s Congress Network, Julie drives strategic initiatives that equip young African women with leadership tools, mentorship, and cross-border solidarity. Her reign as First Princess Africa UK/IE 2025 extends beyond pageantry—she actively uses the title to deliver workshops, confidence-building programmes, and skills training for women from diverse backgrounds.

Committed to neuro-inclusion, Julie serves as an Ambassador for Reach Out Autism, where she challenges stigma and pushes for accessible communities, schools, and workplaces. Her media career spans from being a broadcaster at Dublin’s 98FM to her current role as a presenter at Manchester’s Cosoro Radio, where she deliberately centres stories from refugees, young parents, and other underrepresented groups to shift narratives from deficit to strength.

Beyond the mic, Julie is an experienced MC and public speaker, regularly hosting international conferences, cultural events, and panel discussions on topics such as resilience, community-led change, and intersectional inclusion. She also works with Manchester City Council, applying her grassroots insight to local policy and service design.

She is the author of More to Life; a reflective and practical book encouraging readers, especially young women, to see beyond immediate struggles and pursue purpose-driven living. Across every role, Julie Efrance embodies a holistic model of leadership: professional, visible, compassionate, and unapologetically transformative.
