As a school owner, if your school is the best in your area, I will advise You not to relax because if you do, other schools will catch up with you soon by using the same kind of ideas or by introducing the same kind of initiative which make you stand out. This could make that same initiative of yours to be irrelevant. Parents might not find any reason to patronise your school because they feel the same thing you do is also done in other schools around you.

You must be found consistently setting up new initiative that will make you stand out by tripping your customers with different initiatives. When your school is progressing then expect more parents because every right thinking parents will like to associate themselves with school that is growing.

If your school is not the best, you can employ this tactics to make it more attractive. Don't hesitate to add new ideas. Always throw a question to your staff whenever you are in a meeting to tell you things they think could motivate parents to keep patronising your school. Don't be surprised that you will get more ideas because some of your staff equally have friends in other schools and they might have shared some formula that works for their school. So, you can equally tap into this knowledge and make a decision on it.

Ask your tailor to improve on the way he or she sew and failure to improve on that, you might need to have a rethink and get a better designer. School uniform can actually attract some parents to your school.

Always see reasons why your school should stand out. This act alone is the key to your success in the business. If your school is not growing then it means you may not be doing the right thing. When other schools have adopted the 21st century teaching methodology, you might still be using the 19th century. You should only expect a change when you move in line with the latest methodology. Despite the fact that people say there is fall in the standard of education, I want to tell you that if you take your school to the old methodology, you might only be able to retain your own kids and the kids of some few staff who don't have options than to enroll their kids in your school.

School business can never be seen as everybody's business. You must be ready to learn, widen your scope and open to new innovation. This is the only way you won't go bankrupt. A lot of people have taken a loan to establish school business and they are unable to sustain it. They finally resulted in selling of the school.

If you think the location you are is the problem, I will challenge you to put up your school for sales and allow a creative individual to buy it and see if you won't regret selling it within 3 years.

In conclusion, inorder to remain relevant in this business, you must always be open to creativity. Welcome new ideas and make use of feedback.

Tips to Encourage Reading Habits in children

Reading is one of the most important skills children need to learn to be successful. Not only do good reading skills benefit students academically but also develop skills required for lifelong success.

But sadly, many of today’s kids prefer to watch TV or play video games rather than reading a book. This might be because modern parents don’t focus on encouraging reading habits in their children’s daily routine.

Nurturing a love of reading in children can be a difficult task for parents, but with the proper use of the right techniques, they can easily turn their reluctant child into a book reader. Inculcating reading habits in kids is of great importance and should not be missed from early childhood.

Lakshya, one of the best international schools in Kakinada, here suggests different ways of learning that encourage good reading habits in kids.

1. Read to your children early
To help your child understand the importance of reading, you should start reading stories, bedtime stories from an early age. Start the routine with some short stories, this will foster a love of new words and help develop a reading habit in kids.

2. Read what interests to your child
Instead of forcing your children to read what you like, encourage them to read something they have a keen interest in. No matter if it is a newspaper, poetry, fiction, comic books, non-fiction, or any other reading material, let your child do what they want.

3. Surround your child with Books
Children who grow up with reading material all around them help learn to love reading earlier than those who grow up without essential reading resources. Filling your home with lots of books, make your child ready to get reading even if it is only for a few minutes.

4. Set a reading routine
If you want to develop a love for reading in your children, it is essential to encourage them to read at a specific time every day. Be it after school, just after dinner, or before bedtime, set up a comfortable reading time for your child and follow it strictly.

5. Keep asking questions
To keep your children hooked on the book they are reading, ask them some relevant questions and encourage them to ask the same questions from you. Remember, the more questions you ask your children, the more their love for reading will grow.

6. Show your love of reading to your kids
Talk to your children about your favorite books and explain why you love those books. As children imitate parents, showing your little ones your love of reading will help them better understand why books are essential to their daily lives.

7. Set Challenges and Rewards
Set a reading goal for your child, and if they achieve it, reward them with something they need. It could be anything that motivates your child to read more. For example, if your children read for one hour every day, offer them their favorite delicacy.

8. Be a role model
To instill a love of reading in your kids, be an avid reader and try reading in front of them. Read whatever you like – a newspaper, a magazine, a novel, or a cookbook, but make your child realize that you love reading and learning new things.

9. Gift them books
If you want to give your children something special that could develop a love of reading in them, there is nothing better than a book. Give their favorite books as gifts as it is one of the best ways to foster reading habits in your kids.

Use these tips to get your children interested in reading so they can become better learners. To learn more tips that help kids improve their performance.

HOW TO RESTRUCTURE SCHOOL BUSINESS FOR PROFITING

There's a need to restructure your school business for profiting. Education industry is constantly changing and the success rate of SchoolStarters aren't all that great.

Why?

Due to the lack of basic knowledge about business structure, and that's what is killing a lots of School businesses.

So many have a good curriculum for all the subjects but do not have a good business structure in place.

Many have qualified teachers with good teaching techniques on how to handle pupils, but those teachers don't last for a session. Why? Structure!

A good structure will keep good teachers and good parents but keep away bad teachers and bad parents from your business.

It's structures that make your school a business.
Curriculum is for your pupils while Structure is for you!

Running a school without a solid structure is like driving a bus without a gear!

You know what, there's a danger👹 ahead

Structure is the gear that controls and moves your school to a desire destination.

Lemme show you what makeups a structure!
I mean what you need to know before you build your school structures:

⚀Who Are Your Target Parents?

Who are they?
Where are they?
What do they want?

Without knowing your target parents you can't do well in this business.
You are sent to a particular set of parents and they're waiting for you in your neighbourhood.

Find them!

How?
👇

⚁ By Creating What Will Attract Them Called: VALUE!!

🔹️Value is what you give to the parents through their wards to justify your fees!

🔹️Value is what attracts Parents to your school and sells your school to them.

Remember, when they came for their wards registration do they asked for curriculum?

NO!

Value is what sells your school not A for Apple, B for Ball etc.

Your value is determine by the problems you're able to solved. You are a solution provider to one particular problem in education sector. Find out!

After you might've identified your target parents and your value. The next things is to create a structure around those things.

Your structure must align with the status of your target parents, if not it wont work.

The kind of structure that may work in Island maynot work in Mainland.

If your school doesn't have one, go and create it and see how your school will grow automatically.

I will love to hear from you!

11 FACTS ABOUT DYSLEXIA
Dyslexia is the most common learning disability. Individuals with this medical condition have difficulty in the areas of language processing

[1] 1 in 5 people suffer from dyslexia.

[2] About 70 to 85% of children who are placed in special education for learning disabilities are dyslexic.

[3] Dyslexia does not reflect an overall defect in language, but a localized weakness within the phonologic module of the brain (where sounds of language are put together to form words or break words down into sounds).

[4] People with dyslexia are usually more creative and have a higher level of intelligence.

[5] Those with dyslexia use only the right side of the brain to process language, while non-dyslexics use three areas on the left side of the brain to process language.

[6] Children have a 50% chance of having dyslexia if one parent has it. And a 100% chance if both parents have it.

[7] Dyslexia ranges from mild to severe. Around 40% of people with dyslexia also have ADHD. And those with dyslexia use about 5 times more energy to complete mental tasks.

[8] Dyslexia is not a disease so there is no cure. It’s a learning disability that includes difficulty in the use/processing of linguistic and symbolic codes, alphabetic letters representing speech sounds or number and quantities.

[9] Dyslexics do not “see” words backwards. The “b-d” letter reversal for example is mainly caused by deficits in interpreting left and right.

[10] The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services estimates that 15% of the population have dyslexia. ↩︎
