It is with deep sorrow that we mourn the passing of Nana Konadu Agyemang-Rawlings, who left us on Thursday, 23rd October 2025, at the Ridge Hospital. A true icon and trailblazer, Nana Konadu dedicated her life to empowering women, uplifting children, and driving social change across Ghana and beyond.
As Ghana’s First Lady, she founded the 31st December Women’s Movement, which transformed countless lives through education, health, and economic empowerment — building preschools, promoting adult literacy, and creating opportunities for women in every corner of the country. Her courage broke barriers when, in 2016, she became the first woman to run for the presidency of Ghana, inspiring generations of women to believe in their voice and power.
Beyond politics, she was the author of “It Takes a Woman”, a reflection of her journey of leadership, resilience, and service. Nana Konadu Agyemang-Rawlings will forever be remembered as a symbol of strength, compassion, and progress.
Rest in peace, Nana Konadu. Your legacy lives on.❤️
