United Way Ghana The organisation has a unique vision to create stronger, healthier, educated, and self-sustaining communities in Ghana.

United Way Ghana (UWG) is a not-for-profit organisation that seeks to build community capacity for sustainable development in the areas of health, education, and income generation. United Way Ghana was established in November 2003 to support community investment projects and provide a platform from which communities can mobilise resources, strengthen their foundations, and continue on the road to

self-sufficiency. It brings together businesses, labour, non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and where appropriate, government, to foster a culture of corporate social responsibility, local philanthropy, and local volunteerism. UWW provides an efficient mechanism generating new and needed funds for screened NGOs. United Way Ghana is a member of United Way Worldwide. Headquartered in the United States, UWW is a global network of 47 member countries with 4500 affiliate offices developing models for sustainable impact at the community and grassroots levels.

Yesterday marked the end of an inspiring chapter as we joined many others in celebrating the remarkable leadership and legacy of Ms. Mansa Nettey, outgoing CEO of Standard Chartered Ghana, on her final day in office.

The Board of United Way Ghana paid a courtesy visit to express our heartfelt gratitude for her unflinching support, visionary leadership, and commitment to creating lasting impact in communities across Ghana. Through the strong partnership between Standard Chartered Bank Ghana and United Way Ghana, countless lives have been touched through initiatives focused on education, health, youth empowerment, and community development.

As part of the visit, the Board presented an award to Ms. Mansa Nettey, in recognition of her support as the CEO of the bank. We also honoured Ms. Asiedua Addae, Head, Corporate Affairs, Brand and Marketing, as a true Agent of Change, celebrating her personal dedication to advancing social impact and championing initiatives that have improved the lives of many.

While we bid farewell to her tenure as CEO, we celebrate a legacy of service, compassion, and leadership that will continue to inspire positive change for years to come.

A single decision can change the course of a life.

What begins as one moment of anger, one impulsive action, or one wrong influence can lead to years behind bars, broken families, lost opportunities, and regrets that cannot be taken back. Many inmates never imagined they would one day find themselves in prison, yet life changed in an instant.

This reality came alive during a United Way Ghana facilitated visit to the Nsawam Female and Male Prisons, made possible through the support of TotalEnergies Ghana.

Beyond the walls and security gates were human stories: stories of pain, lessons, reflection, hope, and the desire for a second chance. The visit was not only eye-opening, but also a reminder of the importance of guidance, empathy, and community support in shaping lives and preventing vulnerable people from taking paths that may alter their future forever.

As part of the engagement, basic supplies were donated to support both inmates and staff of the facilities, bringing relief and showing that compassion still reaches even the most forgotten places.

At United Way Ghana, we believe every person deserves dignity, hope, and the opportunity to rebuild their lives. Through partnerships like this, we continue to create spaces for awareness, rehabilitation, and meaningful impact in our communities.

The Rains Couldn’t Stop the Impact 💜🌧️

Today, despite the heavy rains, hope, resilience, and purpose filled the halls of Osu Presby School as 1,000 adolescent girls from schools across the Korle Klottey Municipality gathered for the Standard Chartered Ghana and United Way Ghana Menstrual Hygiene Event in commemoration of Menstrual Hygiene Day 2026.

From the early hours of the morning, students arrived determined not to miss the opportunity to learn, connect, and be empowered. Their presence was a powerful reminder that when young girls are given the right support and information, nothing can stand in their way.

The event created a safe and engaging space for girls to openly discuss menstrual hygiene and health, break harmful stigma, and gain practical knowledge on how to manage their periods with confidence and dignity. Each girl also received sanitary pads to support her menstrual health journey and help her stay focused in school.

This impactful initiative was made possible through the generous support and funding of Standard Chartered Bank Ghana, whose commitment to the wellbeing and empowerment of young girls continues to create lasting change in communities.

At United Way Ghana, we believe that no girl should miss school, lose confidence, or feel ashamed because of her period. In line with this year's theme: Together for a Period Friendly World, this event was more than just a donation exercise; it was a moment of empowerment, education, and hope for a brighter future.

Together, we are building a period-friendly world where every girl can thrive. 💜
