Sometimes, the biggest change starts with simply learning something you never knew before.

For this StartNow participant, the training opened her eyes to practical business principles she had never considered before. Even more exciting, she was able to make money from the paper clip activity—and now sees that money as the beginning of an income-generating activity.

This is what we love about the StartNow training: knowledge that leads to action.

Despite the short notice, Academy leaders from across the Aba/Umuahia Cluster made time to attend a leadership meeting with RC Bro. Omokaro. Their commitment to learning and serving their members was inspiring.

One powerful lesson reminded us that some loads are simply too heavy for one person to carry. But when leaders work together, challenges become lighter and solutions become clearer. The meeting also provided an opportunity to openly discuss the difficulties leaders face, find practical solutions, and set meaningful goals that will help members make measurable progress in the weeks ahead.

One leader shared:
“It was an enriching opportunity to learn, grow, and gain valuable insights. We look forward to sharing these lessons with our chapter because The Academy is here to stay—helping us grow, develop, and become better entrepreneurs.”

The Owerri Chapter StartNow Training brought together members, bishops, YSA, and youth aged 16 and above, all eager to learn, grow, and take action.

One of the most inspiring moments came during the paper clip challenge. A sister who initially doubted the principle returned without making a single exchange. After seeing what others had achieved and receiving encouragement, she stepped out again, made remarkable progress, and promised never to let fear keep her in her comfort zone.

During the closing remarks, President Austin Nnadi Onyewechi, First Counselor in the Stake Presidency, encouraged members to keep applying the principles they had learned and thanked The Academy for bringing the training to the Owerri Chapter.

To help members continue learning despite the distance, the chapter was also divided into three sub-chapters, with leadership training provided to support their continued growth.

The StartNow Training in Aba North concluded with participants expressing gratitude not only for the knowledge they gained over the four days, but also for the realization that every successful business starts small and grows by applying practical principles.

As the training progressed, members shared real-life experiences, showing how these principles had already helped them overcome challenges and achieve better results. Their testimonies reaffirmed that The Academy’s lessons are practical tools for business growth.

President Umuchichi encouraged participants to put what they had learned into action and return with stories of growth and success.

“The Academy is looking for members who don’t just learn—but live what they learn.”

That was the powerful message Regional Coordinator Victor Omokaro shared as he met with chapter leaders across the Port Harcourt Cluster over the past week.

The discussions challenged leaders to look beyond attendance and focus on what truly matters: transformation.

A successful Academy member is not simply someone who completes a training session. It is someone who returns home and begins to apply the principles learned—keeping proper records, separating personal and business finances, setting clear goals, and making better business decisions.

These leadership sessions also reminded every leader of their sacred responsibility: to help members turn knowledge into action and action into lasting success.

As one leader shared after the meeting, “The session was profound and spiritually uplifting.” Another expressed appreciation for the practical emphasis on accountability and the foundational habits that transform small businesses into sustainable enterprises.

When leaders are strengthened, chapters become stronger. And when members consistently practice what they learn, families, businesses, and communities are blessed.

That is the kind of impact we are building together at The Academy.

What a beautiful way to end four inspiring days of learning!

The Ekete Chapter celebrated the graduation of 183 participants who successfully completed the StartNow Training. It was a joyful occasion as graduates proudly received their certificates, marking the beginning of their entrepreneurial journey.

We were also honored to recognize the Second Counselor in the Stake Presidency, who received a certificate for his diligent participation throughout the training.

Congratulations to all our graduates! We look forward to seeing the impact you will make in your families, businesses, and communities.

“The Academy has changed the way I run my business.”

Meet Thomas Joseph Dauda from Hill Station 1st Ward, who shares how the knowledge and skills he gained at The Academy transformed the way he manages his business.

“Before joining The Academy, I was already running my business, but I struggled with slow sales and poor record keeping. I also made business decisions based on personal relationships, which affected my business.

Through The Academy, I learned how to keep proper records, make better business decisions, and treat my business professionally. These lessons have changed the way I work every day.

Today, I am more confident and have a clearer understanding of how to grow my business. I now make decisions based on good business principles instead of guesswork.

I am grateful to The Academy for giving me the knowledge and skills to become a better entrepreneur. I know these lessons will continue to help me build a successful business.”

What an incredible journey! 🇸🇱

Despite the rains and transportation challenges, participants came in their numbers, determined to learn, grow, and build a better future through entrepreneurship.

We are deeply grateful to everyone who traveled from Wellington Stake, Hill Station Stake, and Kossoh Town to be part of this life-changing experience. Your commitment and desire to learn were truly inspiring.

Together, we celebrated the graduation of 266 participants, the establishment of four new chapters—Freetown, Freetown East, Wellington, and Bo—and the formation of Small Mentoring Groups, where graduates will continue to encourage, support, and strengthen one another as they put these principles into practice.

Throughout the four-day paper clip trading challenge, participants generated thousands of Leones through their creativity, teamwork, and determination—proving that with the right principles and a willingness to act, opportunities can be created from even the smallest beginnings.

This may mark the end of the training, but it is only the beginning of transformed lives, thriving businesses, and stronger communities.

Congratulations to all our graduates. Your journey has just begun!

Despite the rain, the determination to learn was stronger.

Participants at the StartNow Training in Yaba showed incredible commitment by coming out to learn practical principles that can help them overcome poverty.

Many shared that the training gave them the boldness, confidence, and knowledge they needed to take action toward becoming self-reliant.

One participant, Sister Onwusah Patience, a retired public worker, said the brainstorming session helped her discover the true meaning of entrepreneurship. Together with many others, she identified a new income-generating activity (IGA) and committed to starting it immediately.

For many participants, it was also the first time they understood why business owners must pay themselves from their business—an important principle for building a sustainable enterprise.

Every StartNow Training is another step toward empowering individuals with the knowledge, mindset, and practical skills to create lasting change.

After completing the Start Now training of The Academy, Sister Angela decided it was time to put what she had learned into action.

She started her business by selling charcoal, buying three to four bags every two days. As she continued selling, she realized she was making a profit and saw an opportunity to grow.

Remembering the Academy rule of thumb, "Sell what the market will buy," she expanded her business by adding caustic soda soap, which she now sells by the cup. She started small but with a big vision.

Reflecting on her journey, Sister Angela shares:

"I am very grateful to The Academy for the paper clip activity. It was through that support that I was able to start my business. I know I will continue to learn many valuable things at The Academy that will help me grow my business and become even more successful."

She also shares this testimony of faith:

"Faith in Jesus Christ can change small things into big things when you devote yourself to doing your best."
