As part of his visit to Enugu, Africa West Area Director Frank Anno spent time with Academy members across the Agbani, Trans-Ekulu, Uwani, and Emene Clusters.

The visits provided an opportunity to meet entrepreneurs where they are, listen to their experiences, learn about their businesses, and discuss how Academy principles are helping them progress toward greater self-reliance.

These interactions also allowed members to share their successes, challenges, and goals while receiving encouragement and support as they continue building and growing their businesses.

The Academy remains committed to empowering entrepreneurs through training, mentorship, and meaningful engagement that helps individuals and families create lasting economic opportunities.

On Saturday, entrepreneurs in the Awka Chapter gathered for the opening session of the four-day Start Now training, facilitated by Africa West Area Director Frank Anno and Regional Coordinator Omokaro.

The session provided participants with practical business insights and an opportunity to learn principles that can help them start, strengthen, and grow their businesses. Participants also engaged in meaningful discussions and shared experiences as they began their Start Now journey.

The training continues in the coming days, and we look forward to seeing the impact these lessons will have on the entrepreneurs and their businesses.

Jonathan has been running his fashion business since February 2025. In the early stages of his business, he focused on buying and selling clothes but did not keep records of his sales and expenses. Although he noticed that his profits were not as strong as they could be, he did not know how to improve the situation.

Everything changed when a Start Now Refresh training was organized in his stake and he was invited to participate. Jonathan completed the four-day course and graduated with a deeper understanding of basic business principles. The lessons were so valuable to him that he proudly displayed his certificate at his workplace as a reminder of what he learned.

After joining the Kaneshie Chapter of The Academy, Jonathan began applying several principles that have helped him improve his business. One of the most important lessons was Keep Good Records. By tracking his business activities, he is now able to price his products more accurately and better understand his profits.

Jonathan was also inspired by the experiences shared by fellow Chapter members. After hearing how poultry farmers combine their resources to purchase feed in bulk at lower prices, he decided to connect with others in the fashion industry and buy clothing in larger quantities. This has helped him obtain products at lower costs and improve his business operations.

Another principle that has influenced his decisions is Sell What the Market Will Buy, helping him focus on products that customers are looking for.

Today, Jonathan continues to apply the principles he has learned through The Academy. He is grateful for the knowledge, encouragement, and support he has received and encourages other entrepreneurs to take advantage of the opportunities available through The Academy.

During the recent StartNow trainings in Eket and Ikot Akpatek, RC Omokaro also met with chapter leaders from Eket, Oron, Ikot Akpatek, Onna, Ibiono, and Ikot Ekpene to strengthen leadership and share important updates from The Academy.

The meeting focused on discussing challenges, sharing solutions, and encouraging leaders to continue supporting members through chapter meetings, business visits, and helping members apply Academy principles in their businesses.

RC Omokaro also met with Christian, the Self-Reliance Manager for the Uyo area, whose support continues to greatly help the work of The Academy, as well as Stake President Alexander Etuwewe.

He expressed gratitude to the leaders for their unwavering support and dedication to the members they serve. The leaders also shared that they felt strengthened and motivated to continue making a positive impact in their chapters.

Together, we continue to grow, learn, and improve.

The StartNow training was successfully completed in the Eket Chapter, Ikot Akpatek & Onna Chapter, with members expressing gratitude for the valuable business principles learned during the training.

Participants shared how the lessons helped them better understand the right way to run and grow their businesses, and they are now motivated to apply these principles moving forward.

Stake Presidents and chapter leaders were present to encourage members and remind them to put what they have learned into practice as they work toward becoming better business owners.
