The Caucasus Circular Economy Alliance recently had the opportunity to connect with leading businesswomen from Georgia, Armenia, and Kazakhstan within an online networking session.
The discussion brought together companies actively working on sustainable solutions, creating a valuable space for sharing practical experience and exploring collaboration opportunities.
What we have discussed:

🌱 Implementation of circular economy practices
During the session, the Alliance shared insights on ongoing developments in circular economy in Georgia, while also learning from innovative approaches across the region.
We all agreed that we need an in-person regional event in the near future.

The Caucasus region has strong natural potential for wind energy, especially in countries like Georgia, where wind corridors and favorable geography create real opportunities for clean power generation.

Yet today, wind energy remains underdeveloped. In Georgia, only a handful of wind projects are operational, contributing a very small share to the overall energy mix. This highlights a broader regional challenge-the transition to clean energy is not just about resources, but about systems.

Developing wind energy requires long-term policy stability, investment frameworks, grid infrastructure, and regional cooperation. Without these, even the best natural potential remains untapped.

So what can we do?
▪️ Strengthen policy and regulatory support for renewables
▪️ Encourage public-private partnerships
▪️ Invest in grid modernization and storage
▪️ Promote regional knowledge sharing across the Caucasus

At Caucasus Circular Economy Alliance, we see clean energy as a key pillar of a circular economy , but reaching it requires coordinated action.

🌍 What does Europe need to know to build a sustainable future?

The EEA Scientific Committee has just published their opinion on what knowledge and research Europe should prioritise to become more sustainable — a direct contribution to shaping the EU's next Framework Programme for Research and Innovation (FP10) from 2028–2034.

The message is clear: fragmented, single-discipline thinking cannot solve the triple planetary crisis of climate change, biodiversity loss and pollution.

Instead, three main elements should guide EEA and EU knowledge creation:
🔬 Health, pollution, biodiversity and climate change — integrated research that connects pressures and responses, such as the One Health approach.
⚙️ Systemic and just transformations — research on circular economy, industrial decarbonisation and governance of fair transitions.
💡 Knowledge for impact — because the complexity and uncertainty of the challenges we face require a new type of knowledge. How knowledge is produced and communicated matters as much as what we know.

The opinion will shape EEA Scientific Committee work through to 2029 and hope to contribute to FP10 development.

🌿 We are proud to share that the Caucasus Circular Economy Alliance (CCEA) has taken part in a truly special international gathering:
“Reimagining Industrial Parks for the Circular Economy” - a high-level discussion led by the UNDP Chemicals and Waste Team.

This session brought together global expertise to explore how industrial parks can evolve into circular, resource-efficient ecosystems - where waste becomes input, collaboration replaces isolation, and sustainability drives competitiveness.

💡 Key insights:
• Industrial parks are becoming innovation hubs for circular solutions, not just production zones
• Collaboration between companies within parks is essential to close material loops
• Scalable models already exist - and they can be adapted to emerging economies like ours
• Policy frameworks and standards play a critical role in enabling transformation

🌿 CCEA Celebrates Zero Waste Day: Women driving change and Sharing Circular Solutions! ♻️

The Caucasus Circular Economy Alliance (CCEA) proudly hosted its first event, bringing together inspiring minds to explore how circular economy practices can shape a sustainable future.

On Zero Waste Day, we invited members of IWAG for a meeting of sharing, leqrning and inspiration. This gathering highlighted how women drive innovation, introduce sustainable solutions, and influence everyday practices that make a real environmental impact.

🌱 Salome Kareli, CCEA co-founder, presented practical zero-waste products, including reusable beeswax wraps, and shared insights into how small, circular actions in our daily lives like replacing cling film or single-use packaging - can contribute to a greener future.

💡 Events like this are more than a meeting - they are a space to exchange experiences, learn from one another, and inspire collective action.
CCEA seeks to demonstrate how collaboration across sectors and borders strengthens the regional movement toward sustainability.

🙌 Special thanks to IWAG, Nana Dvali, our organizers Clara and Nursen, and to Ketevan Bendeliani, director of the Mose Toidze House museum, for hosting us in this incredible cultural space. Mose Toidze House Museum, itself is an active hub for art, culture, and social engagement, a place where creativity and community come together.
