🇬🇪🇬🇧 Under the cycle of reviews on Georgia’s relations with its international partners, the Diplomatic Society of Georgia presents an overview of relations between Georgia and the United Kingdom.
🤝 The United Kingdom has been one of Georgia’s most important Western partners and a consistent supporter of the country’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and European and Euro-Atlantic aspirations.
🌐 Since Georgia regained its independence, relations between the two countries have steadily expanded, covering a wide range of bilateral and multilateral issues. In 2014, this cooperation was strengthened through the establishment of the Wardrop Strategic Dialogue.
📌 Against the backdrop of democratic backsliding and growing anti-Western rhetoric, the Wardrop Strategic Dialogue has been suspended, and direct UK government assistance programmes have been halted.
