Background of Marneuli Youth Center:
Marneuli Youth Center was established in 2003 from a project by the international organization "World Vision" under the finances of the European Union. Under the framework of the project four youth centers were created in two regions. Among these, two youth centers were created in Kvemo Kartli (Marenuli and Bolnisi), while two were created in Samtskhe Javakheti (Akhaltsikhe, Ninotsminda). Marneuli Youth Center began its work with the project "Integration of young people in civic life of the country"
Under the project the following courses were started at the center:
1. Computer Courses
2. English
3. Georgian
4. Small Business
5. Civic Education
In the sports sector there were courses in the following:
1.Karate
2. Volleyball
3. Acrobatics
Additionally, there were numerous activities in various spheres. For example:
1. Sport competitions
2. Actions
3. Trainings
4. Travel trips
5. Excursions
Over the course of the project, 3000 youth visited the center. Additionally there were parallel activities with courses during 2005-2006 in which different projects were conducted. Among these, the project “photo exhibition of the culture of the region,” had young people taking photographs from the Kvemo Kartli region. These photographs reflected the culture and traditions of the inhabitants of the region and were later put on display. In 2006, MYC established a Youth Council with elections, which was engaged in various types of activities. This project was funded by the European Union and lasted until September 2006
