Well what an amazing three days of an amazing Festival of Christmas Trees finished off with the Tree lighting Ceremony and then the visit from Santa. What an amazing community we live here in St Davids. We the Christmas Trees association can not thank everyone who made this event such a success. We had a record breaking amount of entries for the tree and wreaths, every year they all have such new and wonderful ideas.
It was a very busy three days of people coming in to vote for their favourite Tree and Wreath and also buy raffle tickets of which the prizes were kindly donated from businesses and individuals.

In the evening crowds gathered to the Cross Square to see the lights being switched on by our Mayor Cllr David Griffiths. There were readings from the Head Boy and Head Girl and also their deputies of Ysgol Penrhyn Dewi and a reading and the blessing from the Dean of St Davids Cathedral The Very Reverend Dr Sarah Rowland Jones and our Master of Ceremonies was the Sub Dean of the Cathedral Reverend Canon Leigh Richardson. The primary school children then entertained the crowds with some songs before the arrival of Santa on his way to his grotto in the City Hall.

The Christmas Trees association want to thank everyone who helped and made the three day event a success and a big thank you to all the marshals on the evening and the first aiders and also to the Cross Hotel for always being so accommodating and Mike Chant for helping on the PA System.

Tomorrow evening will see the arrival of Santa in his Grotto in the Ciry Hall St Davids, all Nursery/primary school children of Ysgol Penrhyn Dewi should have received their Santa tickets and also the children who attend Wyncliff Childcare. Any primary aged children/babies who live in the Parish and have not received a ticket they can be obtained in the National Trust Shop and if you don’t live in the parish you can also buy them for a donation of a £1.
Any more enquiries just pop along to the City Hall during the Festival of Trees and wreath Event.

Join us for a party this sat and get yourself in the festive spirit With Christmas music and lots of fun and games. Food available all day.. mulled wine and mince pies. Games start after 6.00pm!
