A truly special day this week, welcoming His Majesty, The King to York Hospital to visit the Sir Robert Ogden Macmillan Cancer Care Centre, which is due to open in July.
The King met people living with cancer and heard about their roles in shaping the new facility to ensure it is welcoming and comfortable. Their insight guided the services it will offer and its design – from the layout and the furniture to the colour schemes and the artwork.
His Majesty also visited the Centre’s garden and planted a Macmillan Rose that will continue to grow and bring comfort to people for many years to come.
The Centre will support thousands of people living with cancer in the region each year - helping Macmillan reach even more people living with cancer.
