We went to City Screen York this afternoon to see the exhibition in aid of Columba sanctuary and advocacy for pigeons. The first picture shows us with our pieces of work, the second shows Jon with his sold collage, “David pigeony”.
We loved the other work on display, by the 11 artists who participated in the pigeon paint off! Jake and Chris had particular favourites, shown in the last two photos. What a brilliant exhibition to visit!

Another birdy make finished today and delivered as a donation to the bird sanctuary fundraiser. This was a very faded old wooden robin with a broken clip attached. We removed the clip and Lily worked her magic on him!
Lily sanded him down, painted and varnished him, then created a tree stump from a cylinder of wood, wrapping it with real bark and adding moss. Great work Lily, we are sure someone will snap him up!

We have had lots of fun in the workshop over summer, creating some collages for a pigeon paint off exhibition at the city screen (event on 12th sept, exhibition continues for the rest of the month).
It all started with Jon’s gentleman pigeon collage, who the event organiser Sam nicknamed “David pigeony” as he looks quite like the late David Hockney. This gave us ideas, and so Dolly Pigeon (Parton), Tim Curlew (Curry) and Bill Osprey (Oddie) were created too, all icons who have passed away this year reimagined as birds!
