The Cadet Naval Aviation Course (CNAC) is a national programme, run annually alongside the Sea Cadet Corps; Combined Cadet Corps; Volunteer Cadet Corps and the Royal Navy, introducing RN Cadets to the world of the Fleet Air Arm, providing training and development to those with an interest in aviation.

SILVER WINGS 1 2026 - Day 1

Cadets started the week with some HOT DRILLS! (Mainly due to the weather!) taking part in dry side parachute and evacuation drills ahead of this weeks Flying Program.

That afternoon cadets visited the Fleet Air Arm Museum (fleetairarmmus) to explore some Naval history.

The day finished with the mandatory frozen refs stop at the base shop… Hot work! 🥵

And thats a wrap!!

The 2026 Cadet Naval Aviation Ground School is complete!

All candidates in attendance were presented with their Bronze Wings following assessment by Commander Richard Turrell RN, Executive Officer (and Former Sea Cadet!) during a ceremony at Royal Naval Air Station Culdrose.

Congratulations to the top candidates making their way to Silver Wings later in the year and a huge BZ to LC Jonathan and OC David for gaining Top Student and Top Navigator awards - we will see you again at Royal Naval Air Station Yeovilton. (Final presentation photos will be released in the coming days)...

Our thanks go out to the Base Warrant Officer for his assistance pulling this week together, along with squadrons and departments who gave up their time to assist us in delivery a fantastic cadet experience!

BW26 - Day 5

As we approach the end of BW26 week at RNAS Culdrose, cadets have spent this morning visiting 700X and 820NAS. Following a briefing on the current work of drone technology used in the Royal Navy, cadets were given the opportunity to talk STEM and explore the engineering bay used for repair and servicing of some the squadrons equipment. At 820NAS, the team were fortunate to hear from some of the squadrons pilots, navigators and air crew who had all recently returned from a worldwide deployment aboard HMS Price of Wales. A well earned break from the classroom ahead of this afternoons final assessment.
