This is Harris, one of our Alumni from Liberia, and a volunteer within our organisation who helps us identify children in greatest need in Liberia. He and his colleagues then get the children into school with an SDCF scholarship.

When he was in year 5 in a school in Monrovia - his father sadly died and this meant he was likely going to have to drop out of school as his family could no longer pay for his schooling,

A Salesian priest Fr Albert Gibson recommended him to Cletus Noah- a friend of Sean’s and Cletus paid for an SDCF scholarship to support him.

He completed his studies with excellent results. Harris helped set up the SDCF Alumni scheme and wanted to give back.

He now volunteers for the Volunteers of Sean and identifies children who would best benefit from a scholarship. He alongside colleagues supports and supervises those students and works with their family to ensure they get everything they need to succeed.

Harris has a degree in Sociology and is hoping to start a Masters degree in China. He is on a six month training course in UK with the YMCA in Southampton studying techniques in learning for children.

He is a wonderful example of succeeding despite adversity. He came to Yateley yesterday and spent time with Maureen which he had always wanted to do.

Harris will speak at our Social Gathering on Sunday 14th June at Yateley United FC Clubhouse from 1pm. The ground is within Sean Devereux Field Chandlers Lane Yateley.

Without your collective support the personal development of Harris and many others could never happen so thank you all!

We would love to see you at our next Social event at Yateley United FC Club house on 14th June 2026 at 1300. We will hear from one of our SDCF Alumni Harris - who is currently in the UK.

He went to Sean Devereux High School and excelled. Since then he has been a very active Alumni and is now leading within the charity finding street children who could benefit from our scholarships.

He is a wonderful young man and it would great for him to see where Sean grew up and the supporters who have helped keep the charity alive for 33 years.

In addition, we intend to launch a new initiative for the summer with a Bar, BBQ and other activities.

It is a chance for us all to get together and celebrate the Fund's work so please do come along and support Harris and the Fund!!

Family Fun Day - Maureen would love to see our supporters there!

We would like to invite all supporters and friends to our Family Fun day on the 14th June 2026.

It will be held at the Yateley United Football clubhouse in Sean Devereux Park, Yateley from 1pm-5pm. Please note that whilst in Sean Devereux Park it is not the Golf Club where we have been in previous years.

This year’s event will be an opportunity for us to thank you for all your support, hopefully over a BBQ with a drink. There will be a bouncy castle and plenty of indoor & outdoor space for children and families

We will also update you a little on our current activities in Liberia and launch our very innovative “Coffee" Fundraiser”. We might also take the opportunity to do a raffle, you’d be disappointed if we didn’t!

There will be no formal “Walk for Sean” but of course walkers and dogs are welcome if they fancy a walk before or after.

PLEASE DO LET US KNOW IF YOU WILL BE THERE TO HELP OUR PLANNING BY EMAILING [email protected]

More details will be announced shortly but we would like to record our thanks to Colin Ive and his team at Yateley United FC who are generously allowing us to use their facilities
