A big congratulations to our very own CI Neil Matthews for his achievement 👏
Celebrating Our Outstanding Volunteers!
The RAF Air Cadets is built on the dedication, passion, and hard work of our incredible volunteers. Today, we’re thrilled to recognise some of the exceptional individuals from Central and East Region who have been celebrated through the Wonderwall initiative for their outstanding contributions.
WO James Tye – Wing Warrant Officer, Beds and Cambs Wing
WO Tye is a shining example of leadership and inspiration, demonstrating a level of excellence that has not been equalled in over a decade within the Corps. He delivers his role with fairness, compassion, and energy, making a lasting impact on both staff and cadets. His instructional techniques are engaging, enabling everyone to reach their full potential. In addition to his leadership, James has taken on a pivotal role in updating dress regulations (ACP1358) and leading a working group to ensure continuous improvement. All of this is achieved while excelling as Wing Warrant Officer and balancing a busy day job. We are truly fortunate to have him as part of our Senior Leadership Team. James embodies everything the RAFAC stands for, and his contributions are nothing short of extraordinary.
CI Jack Binney – Wing Field Day Training Officer, 2462 (Oakley) Squadron, Beds and Cambs Wing
Jack’s "can do" attitude and unwavering dedication have been instrumental in delivering major wing projects. Most recently, he stepped in at short notice as Training Officer for Wing Field Day, finding solutions where others might not. His commitment to cadet training across the wing is second to none, and his positive energy is an inspiration to all.
CI Neil Matthews – Civilian Instructor, 2331 (St Ives) Squadron, Beds and Cambs Wing
Neil’s dedication to supporting cadet activities is truly commendable. From attending 95% of flying slots to volunteering for events like the NASC and RAF Wyton Families Day, Neil has returned to the Corps with a renewed positive attitude and a commitment to enhancing the cadet experience. His efforts make a real difference in a unit that is short on staff.
Here's what our Regional Commandant, Group Captain Dave Boreham had to say:
"On behalf of the Region, well done and thank you to James, Jack and Neil whose dedication and commitment has been recognised by colleagues. This Wonderwall initiative, in addition to the formal recognition route, is a great way for you to acknowledge and say thank you personally to those fantastic CFAVs you know across the Region who are making real difference and adding superb value. I look forward to reading many more."
A huge thank you to James, Jack, and Neil for their incredible contributions to the RAF Air Cadets. Your hard work and dedication inspire us all and ensure that our cadets have the best possible experience.
