Our Objects this week are three discs in our mining collection. To go underground you needed these discs — the red and yellow ones you gave to the lampman and the banksman while you were down the pit and collected them on your return to the surface. You kept the brass disc around your neck all the time you were underground. You would hand back all three discs when you emerged from the pit.
