Yesterdays meeting was EPIC! We had organised a visit from Becky & Judy at the Stetson Stompers who came down and got everyone involved in a spot of line dancing!

It truly was a brilliant meeting with so many happy smiley faces at the end.

Bag, what bag? These guys are absolutely smashing life with a stoma and nothing stops them joining in, having a go, and learning something new.

Now this is magnificent. Go on Whitby! Show every seaside town how it's done. 👍

Public toilets across Whitby could soon be adapted to make life easier for people living with a stoma.

Whitby Town Council is considering introducing stoma-friendly facilities at five public toilet sites around the town, including busy locations used by thousands of residents and visitors.

The proposed changes could include simple additions such as shelves, hooks, suitable disposal bins, and clearer signage. These small improvements can make a huge difference to someone who needs to change or empty a stoma bag while away from home.

Having a stoma is often a hidden condition, so people can face misunderstandings when using accessible toilets despite a genuine medical need.

The facilities being considered include toilets at Abbey Headland, New Quay Road, Pier Road, Market Place and West Cliff.

In a tourist town like Whitby, where people spend hours exploring the streets, harbour, and attractions, suitable toilet facilities can make a real difference to whether someone feels confident enough to visit and enjoy their day.

Whitby Town Council is now considering the proposal.

Cowboy hats at the ready! It's Stomping in September! Last minute addition to our group on Saturday.

Ohhh Golly! Do we have a good one for you! We have the AMAZING Becky and Judy from Stetson Stompers coming down to our group this weekend!

Sue and I have been line dancing with them for a good few weeks now but at class last night they announced to us that they wanted to support raising funds for Colostomy UK at their next event in Eckington through the sale of raffle tickets. We were overwhelmed by the support and thought it would be epic to bring them along and meet you wonderful lot.

So Saturday 11am at Fusion Energy Café we will be hosting a have a go at line dancing with Becky and we can't wait to see you there. It's fun, light exercise and will have you grinning from ear to ear.

With day coming up, Sue and I thought it would be a great opportunity for us to all raise some funds for Colostomy UK at one of our meetings.

We're thinking of a stationary bike where we can set a target and all contribute half, a full or multiple miles towards our target!

If Sue's up for it anyone can do it!

On Saturday Sue and I embarked on our 3rd annual hike for Macmillan Cancer Support. This year in the Lake District. The weather wasn't kind to us and the walk was challenging in places. Even Sue had a fall at mile 8 😢. BUT she got up and finished the walk like a warrior that she is.

Before Sue met me she wouldn't even walk to the paper shop and back so doing something like a 14 mile hike was totally out her comfort zone. BUT she absolutely loves them and always smashes them better than the year before.

Managing Sue and her stoma on the trails is something that we take seriously. Ensuring she stays hydrated with electrolytes and properly fuelled is something I take care and consideration over. It's absolutely paramount to her being safe and well to complete such challenging walks.

At 4 weeks shy of being 73 this woman is incredible. I am so proud of her and love her dearly. She's a legend. Nothing is impossible. She changed her life at 70. Imagine what you can do too 💪
