On Saturday Sue and I embarked on our 3rd annual hike for Macmillan Cancer Support. This year in the Lake District. The weather wasn't kind to us and the walk was challenging in places. Even Sue had a fall at mile 8 😢. BUT she got up and finished the walk like a warrior that she is.

Before Sue met me she wouldn't even walk to the paper shop and back so doing something like a 14 mile hike was totally out her comfort zone. BUT she absolutely loves them and always smashes them better than the year before.

Managing Sue and her stoma on the trails is something that we take seriously. Ensuring she stays hydrated with electrolytes and properly fuelled is something I take care and consideration over. It's absolutely paramount to her being safe and well to complete such challenging walks.

At 4 weeks shy of being 73 this woman is incredible. I am so proud of her and love her dearly. She's a legend. Nothing is impossible. She changed her life at 70. Imagine what you can do too 💪

WOW What an INCREDIBLE write up. Sue and I are so thrilled to announce that we are in the summer edition of the Tidings Magazine with Colostomy UK.

We are very proud of the work we are trying to do here in Bassetlaw for and know that we have already helped change the outlook of life with a stoma for some individuals.

On the 5th June Sue and I are embarking on the Mighty Hike in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support for our 3rd year running heading up to the Lake District this time for the jaunt. Sue remains positive with her efforts and walks a minimum 7,500 steps a day to keep up her fitness levels.

We have our next meeting on Saturday 30th May Fusion Energy Café at 11am and can't wait to see you all there.

This Saturday is out regular monthly meet up. We have the amazing Pete coming along too; Pete is the Chair for the NAMS Patient Steering Group. We know that a lot of you share frustrations around the service and how NAMS actually works so when we met some of the team last week we thought it would be amazing to bring them along to our meeting so you can ask questions and understand the service more.

When Sarah thinks it's absolutely hilarious to keep making AI Dances of me. I must admit it is brilliant! I only wish I could dance like that 😂

We had an amazing day today in Nottingham at the Stoma Open Day. We met some incredible people and walked away with even more knowledge of products, groups, support networks and companies that are in the know.

We can't wait to bring this back to our group and will share more at our next meeting on the 30th May 😃

From another group: Someone is doing a petition to help get more public toilets visible and suitable for those living with a stoma.

We are extremely passionate about stoma friendly toilets, if you feel this way too please sign this petition:

Sue and I have, have you?

Set aside funds for local councils to make 25% of all public loos stoma friendly to create a safe space for ostomates to manage their bags. Needs to include a narrow-shelf, and hooks to hang stuff on.
